I know a guy who is always bragging about how his truck is the fastest in town, which is a gen. 1 Lightning. He has all sorts of mods on it, including a supercharger, headers, exhaust and a ram air kit on it. How would my 01' Lightning do against him. I just have a Diablo Chip and an accumulator transmission valve. Can i take this guy?

 

I have seen Gen 1 run in the 12's with those mods. All depends on traction and proper setup!!!

 

That depends on what he has done exactly.

A heavily modded gen1 can easily out run most of us heavily modded gen 2's. You have to remember that the 351 motor has been around for a long long time and there's allot more parts for them. I would see exactly what he's got done to his truck before you tried to play with him.

What kind of supercharger?
Any motor work like heads, pistons, rods......
What size tires does he want to race you on? If he's got some crappy tires with no meat on them I would race him no matter what he's got doen to it. You can't go fast if you can't plant your A$$.

 

You'd really have to find out more of what he's got done to guess his ET. Take a stock Gen 1 and add a Vortech S trim and exhaust, and you have a low 14 second truck. But a truck with more boost, heads, cam, chip, etc.. can go 11s .

 

Who cares what hes done to it, unless your racing for ca$h. I would race a McLaren F1 car and I'm talking about this one, not the puny $1million road car. If its just for *****s & giggles who cares, Run what ya brung.
