i have a 99L and my friend has a 00 or 01 mustang GT not sure what year? i want to know if i raced him how would i match up against him? i have a flowmaster as does he!!!

A GT. Huh, you would most definetaly beet him unless you don't know how to take off without spinning.

 

Once you're done beating him, let me take a stab at him for money. But tell him I'll spot him a few car lengths.

Just roll into the throttle!!!! That should keep you from spinning the tires to much!!!!

I think you have this guy!!! Twice a year our club goes racing with a mustang club and it is an all out slaughter!!!!!

My wife owns a 01 GT Auto. I have a 99 L.

I would say stock for stock, you got it. Mustang = low 14's L = 14.0'ish.

I have raced both vehicles and with a few minor mods (Chip, K&N and gears) the mustang(~13.7) would beat the stock L(~14.0). The one thing the mustang has going is consistent launches. I can launch from idle, from 1000 RPM whatever, and always get a 2.0x 60'. As you know, the L takes some practice to get the 60 good.


So have no fear..just keep the launch under control.

Don't be overly confident-especially if you are stock (no chip, etc). My L went 9.13 in the 1/8th stock and the wifes 01 auto GT went 9.21 stock. If the stang your racing is a 5 speed and the guy knows how to drive, I'm betting on the stang.

 

The only way I'd bet on the Stang is if it were a Cobra...........and even then you'd need a fairly capable driver.....come on.......barring wheelspin, these trucks will run u high 13's no matter what......it's like everyone says........gotta learn to launch.....I'm in that club too.............it's not easy at all; but stangs stock will run you mid 14's to low 14's with a Motor Trend Driver...........and there aren't too many of those!

The best I have seen a friend rnu a BONE STOCK 2000 5spd. GT was a 13.66 I would give the win to the Lightning as long as he you get a good strong launch.

Smoked a '01 Roush GT mustang the other night...Granted it was not the SC version, but this guy jumped on it from behind me, when he got even with me I just floored it....Left him seein' clear taillights! This truck is hella fast!!!

 

What about a supercharged GT - there is one of those around me...the thing is badass - I look at it as the lightning's sister rather than enemy

 

If you cant beat a Stock stang you better sell that L!!!! LOL j/k Play it safe off the line and you should have no problem!!!!
