If you are talking about the $20 line mod valve, that's old news. Just seems that nobody here has caught onto the fact that they have been paying $80-$100 for a $20 valve. Factory Tech and I have been trying to exlpain this for some time now.

[in layman's terms]Is there any difference between the $20 kit and the $80 kit other than the obvious $60? (a few springs rated at such and such #s, and a new filter so to speak?)[/in layman's terms]
I am still working on a college budget electric fan kit (god forbid I find any pulleys or cams that would benefit us from the junkyard (or otherwilse really cheap).
Okay, sorry about that.
Any difference between what the $80 valve that some people sell and the $20 one from sonnax is gonna be superficial, they're both Line Modulator boost valves, they may be different sizes but really, no, they both do the same thing. Sonnax is a good one, a very reputable company.
I am of the opinion that just doing a Line mod valve is not the final solution, in the shift kit I make (and PSP sells) I also add a heavier helper spring in the 394 circuit (the upper accumulators) and I replace the stock 321 valve and 310 springs in the lower accumulator circuit. I do this because I think that raising line pressure requires you to recalibrate the accumulators (there are 3 inside the body one for the 1-2 shift, the 2-3 and the 3-4) for the increased line pressure to insure proper reaction to the elevated line pressure. I upgrade the lower circuits because when the '01s came out I saw some problems with sticky valves that caused some units to "bang shift" and by using the better valves and heavier springs I eliminated this condition. I think what I do works better, but I concede that this is a matter of preference, so yes, you can do a shift kit on the cheap but I think my way is better, cheaper than a lot of other companies offer and easier because I do the stuff that is more or less "technical" and leave you with just swapping out a valve body, which is marginally more complicated than chaning your own oil, plus, if you have a problem I'm here as a resource, and no-one else that I know of offers easy access to the guy who designed the kit you put in your truck, and I've built a few trannies at the day job, so I thinkn I'm pretty good at it if you have other problems.

Factory_Tech,
When you purchase the complete valve body kit, would this be done in lieu of the shift kit or is the shift kit a seperate issue from the valve body kit? Or should I stop sniffing glue???

I installed Factory_Tech's shift kit in my truck and it has become one of my favorite mods. Well worth the money...
