Dodge R/T vs 66 Nova S/S
Hey Guys,
I'm not that familiar with the spec's on the R/T and was wondering what kind of HP & torque they produce. Last night, I saw a guy in a 66 Nova s/s,(327/300, Muncie 4SP) embarrass one in a stop light race by about 5 car links.

The Dakota R/T has a 5.9-liter V-8 and a four-speed transmission It has 250 horsepower and 345 lb.-ft. of torque.Try a search on them. There are some good threads on how bad they get smoked by our trucks!
Its a DAKOTA. Made by a aptly named company that implies what prospetive buyers should do to their products. DODGE them! I have to DODGE those R/T's all the time in Houston to because they are so slow. No comp for the Lightning, stock to stock. I had a V8 Tundra that could take those things.
Ofcourse
Thats not what the salespeople at Dodge will tell you.
Went there once, they had a $42k reg cab R/T that had the 'bell ringer' pacakge (+ crap load of decals). They told me it was faster than the Ford Lightning. I told them I had mine right out front and would like to see that.
We went to go look at my truck and they asked where I got my wheels and ground effects. I told them to meet me at the track, anytime.
[forgot to add]
Not sure the 1/4 mile #s on stock ones, but I hear the bell ringers are known for mid 14s, when more $$ is put into them, even dakota r/ts can be made to go fast.

no match!!
my dad takes my truck out and looks for people to race when i'm not home, took it out and finally got a challange from an R/T. My dad said when he looked down at the speedo, he was doing about 120 and all he could see was the head lights in the rear view!!!, he let off of it and like 5 seconds later the rts came flying by him. My dad was quite amused. Little did he know I had put the floor jack from the shop in the bed that morning because i was putting on my winter wheels/tires the next day. Needless to say i'm glad i have he rug liner, or my bed would be a hurtin' unit.
