Car and Driver did a test last spring. I believe it was in the March 2001 issue.

If you are wanting some back issues so you can learn more about your L, I suggest you stick around here instead. You will learn a whole lot more. If you have a question start a new thread and someone will answer it for you. This is the best Lightning forum on the website in my opinion.

April

I believe it was the April issue of Car and Driver that had the L test. Just filed that one away this past weekend. This was the review where one of the testers gave the L low marks on potential "Truck of the Year" award because it just didn't make "sense" to have a pickup truck that was that fast, handled so well, etc. He said he just didn't "get" it. Of course, most of these Car and Driver pukes go into orgasm over the latest Honda 4 door sedan....

The new issue of Collector Automobile has a great article on the collector potential of the L. (Feb 02).

Actually, Car & Driver was so impressed with 99 lightning, that they put one on their cover. first time ever, a truck made the cover. of course that was a black 99 (like mine) so, i guess baby steps between the 99 to 02's aren't enough for them. we might have to wait for the redesigned 03's for more national attention

Also...

...an interesting LIghting Performance article in the October 2001 issue of "Sport Truck" magazine. Lots of compar-o tests of variously configured Lightnings and a catalog of performance goodies.

Then, of course, there is this past year's issue of Hot Rod (not sure of the month) where they compare a Lightning with a Corvette. The compar-o test made no sense, but the Lightning fared very well.

But then, I guess part of the reason these trucks are so popular and awesome is because they make no "sense."

They tested a '99 and got 13.62 sec. @ 101.16 mph
