That took 2 minutes :)

The boost sensor is also installed under the dash, I am going to put the water temp sender in the block near the oil filter tommorro night when I get home.

Damm this is fun :)

The gauges should be operational by the weekend.

Bob those Defi guages are pretty awesome. I was considering them but went with Autometer anyway......Well, I think I might swap them out for a set of these.....those photos really made up my mind

Bob, you didn't replace the schrader (sp) valve to bleed off fuel pressure???

Yes more detail on fuel pressure sender and let us know When you install the water temp guage how much leaks out of water plug when you put in sender?

Cool Valve

I got the AutoMeters but the hook up is the same..........

I got no leaks from the shrader (sp?) valve when I took it off. It is in the back of the passenger side fuel rail. I had to buy a 1/8" to 1/16" reducer to mount the pressure sender. And just like Bob said it takes about 2 minutes

Hey Bob, I strongly advise NOT putting your temp sender in the side of the block. That's a really poor location for it. When coolant comes from the radiator and goes back into the motor, the first place it goes is the block, then it travels up to the heads and out the thermostat. There can be up to a 20 degree difference in coolant temp from the block to the heads. You want to read it up top. Putting it in the block is nice and easy, but you're not going to be reading ECT where you want to. I don't know why everyone is doing this all of a sudden it seems.

Sal - where do you reccomend i put the sender. i was under the truck and it looks like i need an adapter to make it fit. i was going to put it in the left heater hose but it seems that most people dont like that either

Thanks,

The best place for it is in the lower intake. You want to read ECT after the heads, because that's where 80% of the heat get transferred from. Some people tap it in the thermostat housing, but that will only be accurate when the thermostat is open . The best place is where everyone has put it in the past, on the passengers side front coolant runner. In the 99-00 intakes, there's a nice round boss there, like they intended people to put it there . On the 01 intake, that boss is not there, but that's still where it should be located. You do have to tap the intake, but it's a piece of cake. Drain some coolant, drill the intake, tap the intake, put the sender in. Use some bearing grease on the drill and tap and it catches all the metal.

I can snap a picture of the area if you like.

Here you go...

There is no nice boss cast into the 01 intake, but there is some kind of stamping there. On all the 01s I've done, that stamping has been the perfect location for the sender. This shot is right next to the # 1 fuel injector.
