Belltech 3/4 sitting too low in back?
Belltech 3/4 sitting too low in back?
I read that with the belltech 3/4 kit that the back sits lower than the front. Is this true? if so, how do you fix it? I searched and came up with this thread:

I moved my rear shakle up to the 2nd notch, not the last lowest notch. If you do this you actually get about a 2/3 drop from the belltch kit. It you put it in the lowest hole you get a 2/4. This happens becuase the front springs are acutally 1in lower than a regular F150 spring.
The A arms are in the front and give you another 2 inch drop. If you want a 4/4 drop you can do the Bell Tech Kit plus the 2in A arms.
The 2/3 I got from the BellTech with the 20in wheels works real well!!!!
Hope this helps, let me know if I can help anymore....
PS- If you plan on doing the install yourself, you better get a full bottle of your favorite alcohol, its a Real Bi$$H doing the rearend front hangers!!!

I am not to sure where to get the A-Arms, I have also seen some type of 2In I beam for the front as well. I know some of this comes with the F150 5/6 kit. I didnt want to C-Notch my frame or do a Flip kit so the 3/4 was plenty for me!!

This is a great thread. I was having a lot of the same questions.
Right now i have my truck dropped 2"s in the rear atm.
I was looking to go lower but still want to stuff 20" Haaz's under my Silver L like Richards. I love those rims.
DJY you truck looks great. As the other guy asked what is your total drop?
I am not sure if i am ready to c-notch my frame, that is what you did right in the rear for more clearance?
I would like to do a 3/5 drop to start, but what is you guys are talking about that is a problem with this kit?
If you guys could recommend the best kit or parts for this i would appreciate i am looking to order them soon. Also did you do new shocks?
THanks a ton

Joe, Yes I have the Bell Tech 3/4, 2inch A-arms and C- Section Kit.
A C-section kit is were you have to Plasma or cut out the section of the frame above the rear end. You then have to bolt in a section a new section that comes with kit it is raised up higher so your rear up won't bottom out on the frame. If you would like to see a picture of a
C-section kit go to:
<www.SportTruckDirect.com>
I think my Lightning has a 3 1/2 front and 4 rear. Maybe your truck is not lowered you could measure from the center of the fender well to the ground and we could get a measurement. Right now my Lightning front measures 29 inch to the ground and the rear is 30 inches. Maybe you could help me and others and measure your Lightning.
I think with the kit if I went with 295-45-20 my front tires would be rubbing on the fender welds. I have no rubbing or clearance problems now. djy

Hmm So if i went with the 3/4 kit without the notch and A-arms think i would be ok with the 20's?
What did you do so that you are not rubbing in the front now? What size tires are you running all the way around.
So far on the winter list i have
20" rims
Trendz Grills (where did you end up ordering yours from?)
Figure out which Hard flush cover i want
Drop kit 3/4 bell tech atm(not sure what else i am gonna go with yet)
Stereo (Probably do a new Mps3 player and 2 square solo 12's, not sure on amps or mids and highs yet)
DJY sorry for all the questions but you are helping a lot =). How much did your rims end up running you?

few more quesitons
you got the 97-01 F150 1/2-ton C-Sectns for $89.95 from western chassis off of sport truck directs web site right?
you also got the '97-'01 Ford F150 (incl. Lightning/H-D) for $369.95/pair from westen chassis off of sport truck directs website?
i know that when you lower lightnings you need a cam bolt kit for alignment. im not sure what that is but does it have anything to do with the A-arm? do you still need this kit or maybe need a different kit with the new A-arms?
what ashenor said, what size tires are you using now?
right now its close to 1am here so i will get those measurments tomorrow for you.
do i have to go to a special place to get the c-section installed or can any good suspension shop do it?
why not just go with the 97-02 F-150 3"/5" Deluxe Drop Kit for $639.95? wolnt work?
thanks again for all of your help and sorry for all the questions.

Ashenor,
I want to answer all your questions. Yes with the 3/4 Bell Tech kit and c-notched frame and 20 inch tires and rims no problems on a perfect straight street. The only problems I've had is the front bumper cap might get scratched on the bottom sometimes going up and down driveways and the rear is so low sometimes you won't be able to go up driveways cause the bumper hitch will scrape.
I have mounted all away around 295-40-20 Goodyear hd zr tires.
I got my Trenz top and bottom polished Billet grills from
U.S. Auto Parts (800) 429-5555. I paid $269.00 for top and Bottom
grill.
Joe,
Your turn on answering questions. Yes I paid that same amount for the C-section kit and 2 inch A-arms. from Sport Trucks Direct plus I paid over a $150. For Fed Ex 2nd day air to Hawaii to have the parts flown to me.
I got the alignment kit from the Local Ford store but the dealer could not do the Alignment I had to go to a Special Alignment shop were they do lowered trucks because they had a special ramp that would not damage my lower front bumper. Most alignment shops or Napa sell the alignment kits do a search on this site I've seen part numbers posted before.
I think any 4 wheel shop could do the job you should let your fingers do the walking and call local shops in your neighborhood. You need a good Salsaw or Plasma cutter and a good strong drill to drill holes for the new C-section plate.
If I was to do it all over I would go with the Deluxe Kit it comes with everything you need for a great slam! Call Steve from Sport Truck Direct (800)876-6226 he knows his stuff.
I feel like I just wrote a term paper, djy

Hey Guys, Ive got a DJM c section new in the box that I bought for my L, for sale. I had a bel tech 3/4 drop and ended up selling the truck before I had a chance to install the c section. It is Brand New. If anyone is interested make me an offer, does me no good sitting in the garage.

Thanks a ton for all you info, you have helped a ton.
My Drive way has a decent angle i hope i can still get in it.
So from my reading you did not remove your hitch? If i drop mine it is going and the spare tire i think that will free up a bit of room.
So like he said that compelte kit is all we will need minus shocks it seems.
Any worries about the c-notch and resale? I live in michigan so the desire for a lowered L is not as great.
ICULOKN, if you read this could i get some info on your rims? I think i am going to go with the same in 20's this winter. What was the best price on rims you found and what tires are you using?
Thanks again both you guys for all you help, it will make this winter a lot easier.

Joe, I'm sure the deluxe kit will work but to be sure why don't you call Sport Truck Direct!
Ashenor, I still have the tow hitch on my Lightning. If you lower your Lightning you will still need shocks the stock shocks will be too tall for your truck if you lower it. No worries on the C-section to me it made my frame stronger. I am not worried
about resale value you have to decide on if you want a lowered truck or not
do what makes you happy! Tire Rack
has great deals on 20 inch tires now.
