4x4 Tranny Pan Filter Question.
4x4 Tranny Pan Filter Question.
I executed a search about the tranny pan install..concerning the proper filter...Some say use the 4x4 filter instead of the Lightning original. Ruslow stated use the original.....I have the 4x4 and want to make damn sure I don`t screw something up. Is a longer/deeper pickup on th 4x4 filter not good for the L. Maybe the shorter filter allows for retention in the pan so not as much trash is picked up. Plan to use the Mobil 1 since I have more than a case or two.
Also I plan to order a valve line\plunger kit from some parts store.
At the $20.00 or so price it would seem to be cost effective... any thoughts or comments?
Also plan to order the new shifter pod mount for a Trans temp gauge and am curious if anyone has tapped or used a factory
tap ?
Thanks

I don't know where the "use the short filter" thing started, but if you use the factory deep plugged pan (the 4x4 pan) you have to use the deep filter, if you don't you'll starve the pump every time you turn or accellerate and you'll burn up the box. Get the filter from AutoZone, part number Deutch TF 325, it's the same part installed in the factory and cheaper than getting it at the dealer. Also, I reccomend getting a full shift kit instead of just getting a line mod valve.
