Question OT..? for you motorcycle guys

I was wondering if any of you guys know about a strobe light that goes either in the headlight?? or in front that puts out a strobe to make oncoming drivers aware that you are there?
My Dad bought a motorcycle (2002 Honda Shadow Aero) and soon after his friend was hit on a cycle aobut 2 blocks from my Dads. Needless to say, he is a little worried about what MIGHT happen. He lives in Florida, and I guess I'd be worried on a bike too. I've seen how some of them drive! or lack of.....

Thanks for your help

You need to check out the laws regarding this. I think strobes are illegal in a lot of states - people may think you are a police bike is the reasoning I think. I know most states let you have a set up where you can flash from high beam to low beam. I would imagine all you would need is a switch for that.

'not sure where you get them, but they make kits that will make your headlight flash on and off repeatedly - I guess you could call it a slow strobe...ask any motorcycle shop and they'll know. I've seen them on the tail lights too - where they blink repeatedly when you brake so the drive behind you doenst ram you...

We sell some at my shop made by Kisan Technology. http://www.kisantech.com/ They offer a headlight modulator, a taillight modulator and a few other neat items we don't carry.
They come with a copy of the FEDERAL law stating that during the day your headlight can flash on high beam a certain number of times per minute.
They are easy to install, they just plug into the headlight then you have to find somewhere to mount a daylight sensor.

Later,
Marvin

the Kisans are nice you can also check out

http://www.kriss.com/ under there motorcycle section

I have a cbr1100xx and really think they are a good Idea to have just install it on the high beam bulb so durring night time you can turn it off by going to low beams.

Umm I have not gotten one yet seems like the go fast stuff always comes first
