Lightbulb stock speakers

Please forgive me for not searching, but I am thinking about replacing stock speakers in 99L. Has anyone got any suggestions on brand, size, watts, etc.. Thanks in advance.

I am also considering replacing mine. In my last truck ('94 F150) I replaced the stock speakers with Polk Audio. It sounded very good. This time I am considering MB Quart. I have not priced them yet, but I think they are pretty expensive. But they are the best speakers $ can buy! I plan on keeping my factory head unit.

BTW, Crutchfield has an excellent selection.

Crutchfield is a great place to buy audio equipment from. Their selection and customer service can't be beat. Especially since they give you a wiring harness, custom fit kit and instructions with your purchase.

speakers

Is it necessary to replace the ones in the doors and behind the seat? Or is it just as good to do only one? Thanks again.

I put it 2 JL 5x7's (xr570cx w/crossovers) in the doors and a 10" sub behind the armrest - The rear speakers are pretty much useless especially when you have the stock plastic storage box back there - I just disconected mine.

I would definetly recomend a sub (or 2) and some nice 5x7's in the doors w/ a good amp. Or if you didnt want the sub, maybe 4 nice 5x7's all around (w/the box taken out at least) w/ a good 4 channel amp. stock speakers are 6x8, so anything less than that will fit.

hope this helps

damn, two in a row...

Just finished removing/replacing the stock GARBAGE speakers with two pair of Cerwin Vega SS-2683's (and added a Sony Head unit)

5x7, 3-way, direct bolt in. Sound good.

(read: I neither care nor desire a MEGA watt, boomin system) YET

I also installed the Pioneer TSA-6865s and they made a great difference. If I had to do it all over again, I would stick with the Pioneers in the rear and maybe some Infinity two-ways up front with separate tweeters. There is all sorts of cool space to mount the tweeters.

Lastly, was anyone lucky enough to have been able to purchase the $80.00 8" amplified Bazooka subwoofer from Circuit City? I think they advertise those types of sales with about two or three in stock and no rain checks. Pissed me off.

Stock Speakers

So, does the stock receiver still sound good with just switching the stock speakers?

I was thinking of just adding some tweeters (mount 'em where?)and a sub, but now I may want to swap out all speakers.

Does anyone have any pictures of an aftermarket receiver installed?
