Question Is it time ???

I have been off of this board for way too long. (getting a pilot's license). I get back and find the 2000 L is now the victim of the intercooler recall. First of all, I love this truck. But I don't want/trust Ford dealer to turn wrenches on it. I haven't even broke 10k miles yet! It has not given me a inch of trouble other that the front end "popping" only twice. I'm just looking for a factory hot rod that won't need to go back to the dealer for some retard to tear apart and put back together. My experience is that they are never the same again. So, fellow Lightning lovers, here is the question. Trade it off while I can still smile about all the fun we had together for a Saleen, 911, Corvette or Cobra stang to replace it. Or, do I knuckle under and turn my baby over for surgery and keep on truckin'?

Get a 2002 Z06, AMG 32 or keep the Lightning.

Keep the L and get it fixed. Just make it clear to them it's not to be driven. Write down the exact mileage and leave it with them.

off topic - sorry

spike, are AMG 32s fast? my mom is in the market for a mercedes or bmw and she wants one thats fast but doesnt want to spend 70k - so M5 is out of the question. we went to the autobahn mercedes dealer and got some booklets on the C class, E class, and S class. I looked at every model of every class and the AMG 32 seems to be the fastest.

I had the first intercooler replaced at about 18000 miles with no trouble whatsoever. Since then I changed delaerships due to my local membership in the SVTOA club. I have also since used this new dealer for a variety of repairs..with only one instance of problem, and that was billing, not techinical.

You have a full year almost still on the recall. I say drive the truck and see what happens to it. If its fine next september then contemplate what to do

Check with a Ford dealer that has done a couple of intercoolers. It worked for me. Good luck. Bob.

Red,
I had mine done out at Suburban Ford in Sandy. They did a perfect job. Not a finger print anywhere. Left all mods in place too. No problems. Dropped it off after work on a Wednesday and the called me before 11am Thursday morning to tell me it was done. That included the wiper recall also. They also provide a free loaner with the recall. Service writer name was Robert (#333) I don't remember the techs name but his number is #122. All you have to do is call the 8-- number and they send the parts to the dealer. Have your vin number handy. Mine to 1-2 days to arrive at the dealer. Good luck. Bill
