Question To those with Hotchkis lowering kits!!!!

I was looking tonight at the Hotchkis web site and was thinking about ordering their lowering kit. The web site said that the coil springs were a one inch drop.

I want a 2-3" drop on the front!!!!

How do you all feel about cutting the hotchkis springs to get the desired ride???

I also considered cutting my stock springs but I will only do that under dire circumstances!!!

hey kyle
I wouldn't sugest cutting the Hotchkis springs.
I have them on my truck, and they are a little stiffer than the stock springs, if you cut them I bet they would be real stiff

You could use DJM (yes, DJM) upper & lower control arms with the Hotchkis springs and you'd have a 3" drop in the front.

Kyle - stay away from the Hocthkis, it's not what your looking for. First there is no custom valved shocks yet, so you have to make to di with a little bounciness. But also because of the difference in spring ratings and no custom shocks the weight transfer is not as good for the drag strip. The best 60' I have ever gotten so far with the kit 2.08, which stinks. Other then that the kit is sweet.

I did howver get to see the belltech kit. The brought the truck down low, the ride was comerable though.

Don't cut the springs. RobG is right about the control arms. Much lower in the rear and you will have to do a "C" section.

I used the Hotchkis rear leafs with 2" drop shackles in the rear with 2" drop Eibach springs in the front. These springs are just the normal F150 springs. This lowered my L about 2 3/4 inches in the front and 3 inches in the back. I don't know how the front went 2 3/4 inches lower than stock with 2" drop springs but it did. That's why I had to purchase the rear drop shackles to get a good stance!

I totally agree that the Hotchkis kit can be pretty BOUNCEY at times (more so on the highway than around town IMHO), but about the weight transfer thing, mine did not cause any problems whatsoever, check the sig.

later,
chris
