Black tail pipes

I've got 4000 ml. on my 01L and always have dark or sooty tail pipes. I clean them up whenever I was the truck, but it always comes back....Normal?? Or just rich??

Water From Exhaust

In addition to the inside of my tailpipes being black and sooty, I seem to have a water problem too. More noticeable in the morning on cold start- which I take to be normal, especially given the drop in temps of late.

I also get a patch of water on the garage floor even after driving the truck. The A/C is not on. Water seems to be centered underneath. Is there some kind of drain hole for the exhaust in this location? I've noticed no weird smoke, and the oil looks clean. It's definitely water- it dries with no mark on the floor and is cool to the touch. Any thoughts or ideas?

I hope that's not from the infamous intercooler leak.

At first that's what I thought. But with it being clear, cool water, I figured it wasn't.

redlightspecial - I have the same thing as you. I notice it every now and then. I don't think it's an intercooler leak either, I've been watching it and that fluid level hasn't lowered at all.

remember that whenever you have the defrosters on that the a/c compressor is running, this will cause the puddle too. Don't know if this is your case or not.

Thanks 2KL!

As a matter of fact I do have the defrosters on. I figured it was from the Climate Control system. Just wanted to make sure.

I believe that there are only three settings on the heat/cooling control where the A/C is not running and one of them is 'off'.

I get alot of moisture out the pipes also. A little more than my 99 5.4 4x4 ORP had. And yes, cleaning the pipes every wash is a reality. I'd like stainless steel/chromed, but not spending $275+ just for that little part, I'll keep cleaning.
