I was considering getting that radio, plus crutchfield will give wiring and install kits with it for free.

i think they are underpowered and full of distortion at higher sound levels,,, every radio has a point where you turn up the volume too high and it loses its signal and all you get is distortion from the head unit,, how high that is of course depends on how loud your amps and speakers and stuff are too.

If it were me i would get a Pioneer or Alpine. I just put the Pioneer DEH-P9300 in my Blazer about a month ago and have loved it ever since. Next it will be moved to my L when it comes. If you have cash to burn though you can get the Nakamichi(spelling?) CD-700 or a Mcintosh head unit. But those are in the $2 grand and up range.

If their HU's are as crappy as their Bookshelf systems, I would have to say buy something else. Our shelf system lasted long enough to get out of warranty and my aunts did the same. I know everyone makes a bad product every once in a while, but I've seen 2 of 'em go the exact same way, so I no longer buy their products. Just my $.02

I've had 3 high end head units (in the $300 range that is)
Panasonic, Sony, and now a Pioneer...

I would have to say stick with Sony or Pioneer, the Pioneer I have now (7300) seems to sound a little clearer when on the radio, and about the same on CDs...

Honestly, all the new Sonys are kinda ugly for me, thats why I went with a Pioneer this time, and I must say, I'm quite happy with my purchase...

(look on e-bay for some killer deals on radios man, I got my pioneer from e-bay for just over $250 including shipping, and crutchfield wanted $370)

I got a kenwood from crutchfield. They are great for giving the wiring harness and custom fit kit but are expensive. The reason i got the kenwood was for the MASK system in which the entire face flips when the radio is powered down.
