Exclamation oh boy...the fun starts again...

J15,

Please note, the majority of us "L-coholics" have an utter disdain for these jelly-bean 1.8L liter, insanely overpriced, butt-*** slow vehicles.

In the links proved, we actually drew a couple of these so-called 'sports car drivers' and duly buried them alive.... so much so, we even earned a coveted Thread Lockage.

TT Smack

More Smack

Too bad our Anti-Audi Grand Poo Bah is out of the country at the moment......

This should be fun nonetheless and I for one welcome it.

Round 2, FIGHT

The funny thing is that I belong to that site myself!

My brother has a 2001 TT vert and he wanted to try and hop it up a bit to about 300 HP and they have the tech and stuff to do it now, but I just didn't know where to get it from. SO I joined this board figuring these guys would be a help like the L boards are and they where of no such.

They all gave me chit about my L and told me it was a hillbilly ride, then I told them how fast it was and I would race anyone of those slow a$$ overpriced pieces of chit and they totally didn't like me after that. To bad for them I could have brought them into the revolution with my crazy Idea's I get. I don't waste anymore time on that site since there all ****s. but maybe I'll go smack talk some more today.

Post Audis

Ok, so maybe Audi's dont have the most displacement, and can be pricey...I have to admit they are fast. My friend has a stock S4...and it runs high 13s just like a stock lightning, so while it might never end up on my wishlist, to say they are slow is just plain ignorance...and as for the price...not much more than what I paid.

Audi=Warmed over VW. Why someone would purchase one of these over a BMW or Mercedes is beyond me.

LOL Frank, this from an owner of a warmed-over Ford pickup. No offense, I just call it as I see it.

None taken. But an L is a Ford, designed by Ford. Even so, I'll only buy from an American based, (notice I didnt say American made) company. Audi's have parts shared at an inflated price. BMW and Mercedes are designed and engineered in-house, last I've read anyways.

The guy that originally owned my 99 Lightning (LightningFreak on this board about a year ago), traded it in on a Audi S4. It was too small for him, so the dealer allowed him to swap for an S6. He now owns a 2001 Lightning again. So much for the Audi's.

One of my friends own an A4, which he went through a few tranny's and driveline components. A lady I work with owns a TT vert...definitely a good car for a women.

Audi's are not L's

I got an Audi A8-L. It's high tech, and I got it for winter because it has all wheel drive and you can put your ski's inside a boot in the trunk. Beyond that, my "L" is better. It actually rides better, and the A8-L costs a ton. I've had it in the shop 4 or 5 times for a "computer" problem and it now qualifies legally under the lemon laws. (If feels like the car is starting off in second gear every once in a while -- they think the computer is shutting off the fuel pressure system, but don't know for sure.) If I didn't need it for skiing, it would be history. Last week I drove over to the Audi dealership and showed the sales manager and service manager the Lightning with my mods. They couldn't believe how cool it was. They had never really seen one before. They happen to be located right along a long, straight entrance ramp onto a freeway just a few miles from Audi's US headquarters. While they stood in the parking lot, I showed them what my truck could do. They're still talking about it. The A4-S is cool if you're not too big, but every night I look in the garage at the Lightning sitting there and smile. I don't care about the Audi.

On regards to why Audis cost so much. Maybe they cost more because there made better. You dont see S4's coming from the factory with leaky intercooloers or a front end that clunks. Audis tend to last beyond the 100,000 mile mark to which i havent seen a L do yet. Im not saying lightnings are bad i still love them and the Audi S4 being next my list. But with the Lightning Ford put the money you pay for one in the performence area mainly, Audi spreads it out. I also think that 1/4 mile times dont make a car good or not either. Quattro can give an upper edge in handling, it helps that Audi doesnt make trucks too. SVT has done a wonderful job with the handling on a 4500 pound truck. But just because Audis cost more and dont blast you through the 1/4 mile in inder 13 secs doesnt mean there a bad car there emphasis is just in other areas beside 1/4 mile times. Right now i would still take a Lightning. Just rambling not ment to get into a flame war.
Lightnings still have that wow facter on other ppl after they get beat by a truck though

I've always wonder the same thing. For the price of an S4 you can buy a slightly used M3, and which would you rather be seen in, a VW looking wannabe BMW or car that woops butt.
