Removing Hitch, what to do with wiring harness?

now that i sold my cobra and delivered it,

i no longer have any need to tow,

i want to pull the trailer hitch for the weight savings.

i peeked at it the other day, and i am not sure what to do with the wiring harness,

also, i tried loosening one of the bolts and couldn't budge it, whats the easiest way to break these things loose.

Put a little transmission fluid on the bolts and let them sit over night. You may laugh but i garuantee it will work.

If you just dont want the plug to be visible, you can unbolt it and turn it around so the plugs face in. I did it to mine and it's not noticeable unless your looking for it.

There are only 4 bolts that hold it on. Just don't be underneath it on your back when the last one comes loose. Trust me....

Just wire-tie the harness back up under there some where. There might even be a plug that contains most of it. Pull the plug and put the harness away.

If you remove the wiring harness bracket from the hitch, remove biotch hitch, then turn the wiring harness upside down, you can reattach it to the frame with a nut, bolt, and washer.

Speedin Bob has it right. I removed my hitch and just moved
the plug over to the frame rail, turned it over, and bolted it
to the frame.
Somebody slap me, or did I read this wrong? BEEFCAKE. who
has a set of 20 inch guns for biceps asked how to loosen the
bolts in the hitch??? If you continue to have problems BEEFCAKE,
just drop me a line and this 50 year old. feeble minded, used to
be will come down to Cinci and show you how to remove them.
Only thing is I can't remember how to get to Cinci....HA_HA

Beef get a set of jack stands under the cross peice and then just use a 1/2inch breaker bar or a good socket wrench and a 17mm socket. They will come loose easily, and this coming from the man who gave me the tips to lose 20 pounds so far

Take the brackets closest to the bumper off first. As you loosen the front ones, the hitch will slowly lower itself to the ground (if you have a dropped vehicle). Otherwise, get a few bricks or boards to lower the hitch on to. When you zip-tie the the harness and plug to the bed crossmember, put the plug in a zip lock bag and zip-tie it shut. That will keep the road grime and crap out of the plug.

Well, well...........

I'll admit I couldn't get the lower pulley bolt loose by myself, but I got the hitch bolts loose without any penetrant. Also, what Tampasvt said.

I would cover the connector for the harness to keep crap out of it. Wrap it with electrical tape or soemthing.
I found a nifty trick for the hitch. When I installed mine last week, I took 2 standard size milk crates I had "acquired" at work, and placed one under each end of the hitch. Then I only had to lift the hitch up about 6" instead of all the way up from the floor. The hitch rested nicely on it and ended up being the perfect height.
