Diablo Chip

I barely got my 2001 Lightning about three weeks ago and already installed a transmission performance valve and i really like the results. My next mod is to put a chip. Since the valve i installed is Diablo Sport i was wondering how the chip was. Is it as good as they say. I need some info from you guys. Let me know soon. Thanks.

I have a Diablo chip from JL and also the JDM Superchip. Haven't tested to see who's makes the most power but I do love the way the Diablo shifts under normal street driving. It shifts under low rpms as the superchip doesn't shift until you get the rpms way up.
This is normal street driving now. I am not trying to start anything here. No affence to anyone.

I don't believe that Diablo makes any trans. valve or any other trans. device. They do make a chip and a tuner (JL) can make the L 'come alive' with it. Other chips will work with the trans. mod too--any of them will turn your L loose!

I believe they do, or else i wouldn't have installed one. Easterisland is holding it.

I love my JL tuned diablo chip. It's a sin to order a chip without ordering a pulley, though.

I can't make a comparison as I have only had the DiabloSport chip, but I do love it. Shifts are very firm on the street and at the track WOT it is sweet

I have a JDM superchip and like the way it performs and shifts. MOST IMPORTANTLY, it produces a nice smooth dyno line and the air/fuels show the right progression; just need a little reburn to add a touch more fuel throughout the entire range. If your dyno curve is not pretty smooth something may need some work. (Could even be the dyno operator!).

As far as HP goes; I'm making 400.0 rwhp and still need to dial-in the fuel calibration a little. My mods include 2lb. lower pulley, headers/exhaust, T/B, Chip & Filter.

If you take the time and expense to collect the information, a chip tuner can probably do whatever you want with the right info. Every motor is a little different and I like knowing exactly where mine is at. Details make a difference. Pick a tuner; work with him; be nice to him and don't bash the others because I don't think all of them on this board can give you what you want.

With that said, I would like to thank JDM for his service and results.

Valve install

It is really not that much of a difficult install, what you are doing is removing the factory valve and simply putting in the Diable one. You would however probably need a lift.
