Thumbs up XM Radio

Just had XM Radio installed in my Lightning. It requires an external antenna, and after trying several I had the Terk SR-2 low profile unit installed
(if anyone is interested let me know and i'll take some pics) The antenna is very suttle, the others I tried were very intrusive. BTW, the service is just under $10.00 a month, has over 100 stations (many without commercials) i.e. music/commedy/news/sports.... and the sound is all CD/Digital quality. Being an audiophile I think it's worth the monthly fee....I would highly reccomend anyone who is going to have a stereo intalled, consider an XM compatable deck.......

I have been looking at those myself. Could you post some pics of the antenna and the unit itself? Thanks!

How much was the antenna?
i have an xm ready pioneer and ive been seeing
100 for the antenna and 250 for the tuner on top of
what i paid for the radio itself.
A little pricey i thought considering a monthly fee
also.
i woulda thought they give u the tuner with a contract like
satellite tv networks do.

I was wondering if xm radio was commercial and dj free, i would deffinately be willing to pay 10 bucks a month for uninterupted music, why would i pay to hear those annoying commercials i get those for free now. does anyone know if sirus radio is up and running and weather there comm. free or not.

10 bucks a month for commerical free music, digital quality music. That sounds like a bargin to me. Now...$250 for a HU, would it be able to pickup commerical radio???? Or would I be stuck with just digital music?

I think you can get an XM receiver that will work with existing headunits, so you can still get FM/AM.

I saw some XM units that do work with any radio in the Circuit City ad this past weekend. That was the first I had ever heard of it, sounds like a kick butt idea!!!!!! Is it basically the music channels from satellite TV?? How is the reception, how is it in rainy, bad weather??
I would love to see some pix of the HU installed and the antenna. We have a GPS tracking system in our cruisers, I'm just wondering how the antenna compares. Where did you have the antenna installed????
Thanks for the info and for being the guinea pig for us.
LOL

Thumbs up XM Antenna Pics

The antenna I got (TERK SR-2) was $79.00, plus there is a $30.00 rebate, hence $49.00. Many of the channels don't have commercials...check it out @

XM

It sticks on with an adhesive tape....the antenna is waterproof/car wash proof.
