blown engines, sign in here

Just wanted to get a list together of everyone's experience of blowing up their lightning motors. What year vehicle ,what mods were on at the time, and what you were actually doing(besides driving obviously), when it let go. This is just for my personal curiosity, but i'm sure some other people may be interested as well.

he means that he had a whole bunch of mods (including chip and pulley) that he had taken off when they did his cylinder head repair if I remember correctly. A short time after this repair, the engine blew up on him.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I may have him confused with someone else with another screen name.

later,
chris

Your kidding right tallimeca? You would have to be nuts to answer those types of questions especially since Mr. blue oval is already dropping the hammer on some fellow L owners. Anybody want to list what drugs you have tried or sold say in the past 3 years? lol j/k

Chris you might have him confused with BfB. They might be one in the same though...

Blew mine with 9,000 miles. Bearing failure. Truck never leaned out and pistons/rods were OK.

Mine let go on startup one morning at 14100. No mods, it simply died. Mechanic said cracked block, low (or no) compression on #2 & #6. Never found out what final diagnosis was-never will.

8600 miles. It was cold out and I had stopped for gas about 1.5 miles from the house. Left it running so the heater could warm up and it started knocking. Drove it easy back to the house, called the dealer and towed it in myself with my good truck (chevy) Has 2 spun rod bearings-everything else looks good.

By the way the chevy is my work vehicle and has a junkyard LT1 from a 92 Vette. It is chipped with an aggressive program setup for 93 octane yet I run 87, has headers, filter kit.....and gets the p ss driven out of it everyday, and is still running with absolutely no probs 2 years after being put together in the back yard. It don't have 7 inch rods.

refresh

This post isn't an attempt to bag anybody for blowing up their engine with mods. I was just curious and figured it would be kind of a good thread for others. If you are uncomfortable about it, you can either
1) simply not post
2) use a different name
3)simply email me your info

Again, I am just another fellow Lightning owner. Please don' label me as "the mole" . Check out some of my previous posts if you want.......you may get a kick out of a few.
