Question Thinking of buying 02, Pros & Cons??? ( Everybody please )

Im thinking of going with an 02. But I need your guys help. I mean everybodys help. I have my 00 and have been happy with it so far. See my sig for details. I really considering going with a 2002 True Blue but I havent seen it yes and who knows how will look. And my fav color White will be gone. So that would leave me with Silver to go with. Which was the color I originally wanted but bought a Wht one. I know thw differences between the 99-00 and the 01-02 but is it worth it what are the pros and cons performance wise. Ive only done bolt on stuff to my truck so far and this winter I want to go with more real changes and want to know if i should go with 02 or keep my 00. Come on guys give me your ideas. Thanks

why not just buy a white 01 . Intrest rates are great and besides the keypad and the locking lug nuts the 02 is the same as 01. Who knows what the rates will be when the 02s come out. I had a black 00 and traded it in on a red 01 and the difference is amazing. My old truck which is still at my dealer for sale feels like a piece of s#hit compared to my 01. The 01 rides nice is quiter on the highway and the red is much easier to keep clean but thats besides the point. If you can make the move and you like white then do it ... good luck .kyle

I've got a 00 and personally I would wait to see what 03 has in store for us (from the rumor mill it looks like a major change). I'm not gonna spend the money to trade out to the 02, I don't feel there would be nearly enough benefit to justify the cost. But on the flip side, what if there will be no more Lightning after 02. You never know how these type of production vehicles go, I mean look at what GM did several years back with the Syclone, Typhoon and the GN.
Just my .02

'01 or '02- You'll notice a big difference between your '00. Nothing wrong with a little extra HP and torque! Obviously, if you have your heart set on True Blue, you gotta wait for an '02. But if not, strike while the iron is hot- namely cheap financing deals. I bet it'll be a lot easier to make a good deal on an '01 at the end of it's model year, as opposed to an '02 at the beginning of it's.

I'm not a big fan of blue vehicles anyway, and the keypad is something I know I would never use.

Good luck!!

Gotta go with true blue. Have one of the first! The color is awesome! Start trying to sell your '00 now. Cause if you want an '01, you'd have to sell your truck fast.

This is obviously a highly individual choice, but you have to look at the cost of getting into the new vehicle, how much you've put into your vehicle from a financing perspective, and how much you've spent on performance and appearance mods that can't be moved onto an 01/02.

Even though the 0% financing looks good, you still paid taxes and tag/title fees on your '00, and you'll have to do it again for your new vehicle. That's a big chunk of change. Compare your current financing (if you haven't paid for it outright) with your current interest rate and what you've already paid into the 00 to the 01 total cost with 0% financing, and see which one is better for you.

Think about how much you will get on the trade-in or outright sale of your '00. I've seen 99-00's literally being dumped for $20K just to get into a '01. There's a lot of money lost there if your current loan is above the amount that you get on the trade/sale.

Just some thoughts, but again it's up to you to decide what's best with your current situation.

BTW I own a 00 and I went through the steps above, and I would have lost a significant amount of money. Your results may vary.

00 or 01-02

I thought long and hard about this very item myself.

One thing to throw in the pot is that ALL of the improvements made to the 01 CAN be put on the 99 /00 to bring it up to spec.

Shocks
90MM
3.73 Gears
larger airbox, if you are goint to run a filter, doesn't matter
better intercooler, its free and waiting now
Revised Tranny, they made it Cheaper not Stronger
Lenses, front and rear, and LED 3rd light
Half a chip, put in a full one, custom to your mods your better off

Take the money you save on a new truck, and
Make your truck exactly the way you want it.

If you want custom paint, do that and be really different,
Hmm a Plumb Crazy Lightning......

And if you need help, come on over, I'm right across town.

But if ya do decide to upgrade, remember yer buddy across town that has a nice Silver 2k that all those sweet mods will fit...

Good Luck with your decision.
