I JUST PUT ON THE BASSANI HIGH FLOW CAT SYSTEM AND I ALREADY HAD THE BASSANI CAT BACK. BUT AFTER I PUT THE CAT SYSTEM ON MY TRUCK SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS A REALLY BAD EXHAUST LEAK. BUT EVERYTHING IS WELDED. WHAT DOYOU THINK COULD BE THE CAUSE OF THIS. PLUS I NOTICED SIGNIFICANT DROPS IN FUEL ECONOMY. ANY INFO APPRECIATED.

May have some bad cats, tap them and listen for a rattling sounds, if so send em back! Bassani has been having a problem with their cats recently from what I've heard...

 

While I'm new to the Lightning, I had a Cobra since '97. I had the Bassani X pipe, and it went bad on me. The 'high flow' (more like high failure rate) cat came apart inside. there's a tell tale rattle, known to Cobra drivers as 'the Bassani death rattle', that indicates the coming apart. Once it starts that, power will decrease & mileage as well. I know of at least 20 Cobra owners that had this problem. I went to a Mac high flow H pipe. I don't know if they still do, but Bassani used to use the $50.00 'catco' cats on their pipes...
