Yup

Beef...I put Mobil 1 full synthetic in at 700 miles.....extra protection never hurt. Everything will still seat fine with the synthetic oil.

Mobil 1 since the day my baby was born!

I have used and continue to use Mobil 1 15W50 and don't forget the Mobil 1 oil filter too, a little pricey but I would not have it any other way!

ShowYa in Kansas City. Gotta run go build another Lincoln Blackwood!

I would wait until your next oil change to go mobil 1. I switched to mobil 1 at 7k miles. Some people have no probably changing early, and some say they have slight smoking at startup, and burn a little more oil. This is just what i have been told. So either way you go you probably won't have any problems. Ultimately your decision.

15W50 mobil 1 oil. Is that right?

I use the 5W30 mobil1 in my truck.

15W50 mobil 1 oil. Is that right?

Yes its correct..........15W50 oil is very resistant to heat. My Uncle uses it in his Pro Street Mustang.

My thoughts...

I had my first oil change done at 1500 with regular dino oil. I changed it myself to Mobil 1 5w30 at 3000 miles. I change it with Mobil 1 every 3000. Currently have 14,500 on the clock with no smoking, no burning.

In the cooler weather I switch to Mobil1 0w30. It's supposed to be their most severe duty oil.

Hey guys, wait a minute! Are you doubting this issue. I run 15W50 Spring thru Fall and change back to 10W30 during the winter here in Missouri. I have never had a problem and just recently hit 50,000 miles. I also use the Mobil 1 oil filters also. Just recently ordered a Diablo chip for my 5.4 too, any comments or suggestions for this issue?

Thanks ShowYa in Kansas City. Gotta run build another Lincoln Blackwood!

Question

I wouldn't exactly put my truck in the same class sa a pro street mustang. I believe a heavy oil could also rob some horsepower.

I used Royal Purple Synthetic 5W20 at my last oil change, and it has been fine.

I don't really know how to ask this, hope I don't get flamed to bad.

Does anyone use Motorcraft 5W20, as specified? Is there anything wrong with this oil?

Does any one use the Motorcraft 5w20 synth/blend? Is there anything wrong with this oil?

For the record, I don't intend to mod this truck nor do I intend to run it at 1/8 or 1/4. Just like driving it for the big grins!

the 5/20 is now in a red bottle and labled syn blen. It's still got the same UPC but a different color bottle. I use the regular stuff and don't have any problems. I am really hesitant about putting synthetic in. I run synthetic in the stang but the truck gets the 5/20 motorcraft. I highly doubt any gain in performance with that thin of an oil.

I hope no one takes this as a flame, and yes, I'm new to the lightning board and new with my 01 lightning, but I'm very very very familar with the Modular Motors and the 5.4 is no different than the 4.6 except for the longer stroke....These mod motors need THINNER Oil not 15w50 oil....That oil is too think for the mod motors because the cams are driven off of oil pressure, especially the tensioners that control the chains which drive the cams and the followers...The Mod motors are known for keeping oil up in the heads alot, because of the overhead cam design, therefore, they need a thin oil to flow better from the crank up to the heads...Under really High RPMS, the mod motors have had a tendency to have oiling problems, as sometimes too much oil is retained up there....Your best bet is too stick with 5w30 or even 0w30 when it comes to racing, so on cold startups the weight is really light to get up into the heads faster....I know most race cars like the heavier oils, and I've seen it all before, but the modular motors, 4.6, 5.4 are a totally different ball game....

Terry, to actually answer your question, LOL, I'm changing my oil soon at 3K and switching to Mobil 1 5w30, as I would say thats a good bet to change to...
