Question Chip+Ram Air= Check engine Light?

Anyone else out there have their Service engine soon light on? Just installed my new ****** Chip and Ram air kit and now the Check engine light is on. Took it in and they said it had an "Supercharger Overboost code" and P605 "Aftermarket Chip" Code. I told them yes i did have the chip in..since I use to work there they are cool about that But just wanted to know does everyone have this? What about those of you out there with the 3#,4#, and 5# pulleys? Does your Check Engine Light stay on all the time? The chip makes it run great.....dont get me wrong...but does the extra Rpm's before the shifts cause the overboost? FYI....have 800 miles on odometer now. Any responses greatly appreciated.

I've got a chip & filter and haven't ever got a service light. Maybe your connectors were not completely cleaned of material before chip install.

Sounds like a chip install problem. Disconnect the battery (neg). Pull the chip, re-clean, re-clean, re-clean the contacts. Re-install chip and try again. 14,000 miles on my chip, filter, pulley, etc never had a check engine light.

Call your tuner, he will be the best person to ask.

You won't get a light from a chip or airkit. You may have to unplug your boost selenoid to eliminate the overboost code.

Thanks 99svtlightning....thats what JL said...to unhook electrical connector at boost solenoid. I always get great info on here. Thanks again. Also...there couldnt be anything wrong with the terminals being cleaned could there? SInce it does work....(hard shifts, increased shift points...etc.) I thought that if the chip wasnt making good contact it would not work at all? Thanks everyone!

My service engine soon light stays on. Something with my EGR valve it stays shut. JL cleared the code once but it came back on again after full throttle blast. Doesn't hurt engine but it is just annoying, the light always on. Doesn't hurt performance either. Runs great .

Red: Yes, according to some other guys(never has happened to me), you can have a 'partial connection' between the chip and the PCM. Wouldn't hurt to pull the neg. cable, remove the PCM, pull the chip, turn on the head light switch(for at least 5 mins.), carefully clean the contacts again with a final swipe of alcohol. Let us know what finally worked.
