When is the boost bypass activated?

What conditions are required for the computer to activate the boost bypass? Does the computer modulate the boost, or is just a boost/no-boost situation?

(As I understand it) Boost dump is 'activated' in an overrev situation such as when doing a 'burnout'. The PCM sends the 'dump' signal and you have NO BOOST, and it takes a few seconds(an eternity on the strip) for it to build again.

I drive all the time with my boost dump disconnected with no issues and 15,000 miles on the odo. JDM offers a boost by-pass kit if you don't want to 'disconnect'.

Come on down to Reynolds, GA --Silver Dollar Raceway, for the next two Fridays for 1/4 mileing. You can call me during the work day at 1-800-926-2136 for directions or to just b/s about our Ls. Btw, Rusty and two(including a Gen 1) other Ls may come over from Vidalia this Fri. nite--12s in the air!
