The Lightning Told Me To

True story,, happened today,,, driving down interstate 75 when i decided to see how fast my 01 lighting can take me,,, at about 137 mph,, i have the luck to get pulled over,,, still with a grin on my face when the cop walks up to my window, he starts to ask what i was doing going that fast and starts with the normal lecture,,, when it comes time to answer him,,,, i said "The Lightning Told Me To Do It!" The officer then grinned and walked back to his car, ran my plates.

After running my plates and registration, the officer came back and said dont ever listen to the lightning again and i'll let you go this time

I think that will definately be my excuse from now on when getting pulled over,,, its true though,, the lighting oftenly tells me to do burnouts and doughnuts and powerslides, and burnouts to U-Turns,,, all fun stuff, but maybe i shouldn't listen to it so much,, dont want my tires to last only a month

Thats one of the best ones I have ever heard, and I have got out of a lot of tickets. Like when I told a cop I was testing a new chip.

I'll have to try that one some day.

damn... why is it that everyone else got the nice officer..... i got tagged at 111mph and... well he wasn't so forgiving. Anyone else seen the comercial for the car that says "May be addictive when mixed with gas"? I think that would apply to our L's before that wana-be

ouch,,, 111,,, and let me guess, they wrote you up for all 111 miles, i think people tend to get lucky with tickets as long as they have a good attitude about it, i'd bet the officer went back to his car and laughed a bit before he ran my plates

Twice, I have been stopped going over 100. My standard excuse is "I am really happy officer. I just found out that I don't have cancer" So far, so good.

That has got to be one of the best excuses I think I've ever heard. Two thumbs up.

WhiteToast11, in California, you'd have been just that -- toast!.

The CHP would have invited you to be a resident of the graybar hotel.

That only happens in the movies.

good excuse, i was going a little over 130 today on hwy6, luckily i didnt get pulled over, i was just thinking about that. so you do burnouts, power slides, all that cause the L tells you to? well, mine does too, but my brain tells me not to because i know i couldnt explain to my parents why i need new tires with under 2000 miles on the L,,, geez, how long do your tires last!?!

I feel sorry for anyone who makes their tires last longer then a year , j/k a trick to trying to save your tires is by doing burnouts on blacktop, especially if its a little wet out, and of course,, stop as soon as or before you smell smoke, and stay away from doing them so much when its hot out,, you just need a little self control,,,

and for anyone who doens't beleive my story,,, there is a secret to it, i do know most of my area cops,, i actually own a couple bagel shops and most of the cops come in to them to get their coffea or bagels or whatever, i dont know all of them personally, but i guess its just common curtosey to be nice to your friendly neighborhood cop,, you never know when they might be in charge of wether you go to jail or not. plus i think the cop was happy i stopped right away when i saw him, going 137 the only way he probably could have caught me would be by radioing to his friends to cut me off or something,
