Question Lower Pulley ???????/

I need some help. I've been told that a 5# lower pulley is the way to go for better performance. I'm no mechanic, however, & my question is exactly what does changing this lower pulley do? Is it hard on the motor? Thanks for your help.

Blackbomber--Basically all the lower pulley does(and for that matter the upper one) is spin the rotors of the supercharger faster thus allowing the boost to come on quicker and harder. There is a lot of dicussion on spinning the blower "too fast" thus sacrificing long term reliability. My personal belief is that a 4 # lower pulley is more than enough for the factory s/c.I personally run a 3# and so do a few of the local Lightning crowd down here and we have seen a couple of 12.2 times without nitrous in the warm florida air.If you want to gamble though you can go with a 5# pulley. Its still to early to see if this will cause any adverse affects IMHO. Any way whichever way you go it WILL show a substantial difference .Even in the assometer!!

Oh yea. I almost forgot about the higher intake temperatures generated with more boost. This is something you should consider, being that higher heat = loss of power.I think this is covered in better detail on another recent post by "sixpipes" called "Heat VS Horsepower" . Check it out.

I went from the stock pulley to a JL 3# pulley. I messed up and made no 1/4 mile or dyno runs 'before' so I can't 'prove' what it adds, but I'm satisfied. See my sig.

I have the JDM 2# lower and the Metco 1# upper the combo works great. I may trade the 2 lower for a 4# lower this spring.

I like the fact that the JDM pulley keeps the factory support cage.
