i was going to work today and all of a sudden i hear a rattling noise like something in a soda can what does everyone think it is . p.s i tried the search already thank later

 

Sounds like detonation, bad gas maybe, could be cooler weather and a chip, if you have one. Mine started doing it between 2700-3200RPM, figured it was leaning out with the colder weather.

Mine was doing the same thing. Cooler weather sets in and the computer puts more timing in. I got a check engine light a couple of weeks after the pinging started - codes were lean (3 times). Yank the chip and it'll stop pinging, but it sux driving without the chip!
