Post every little bit helps

There I was, going up against a Gen1 that had some MAJOR league work done to it....Roll into the lights...okay here we go....
knock knock on the window.....the starting guy motions me to back up...I had missed the lights with the front tires and had lined up the back wheels...and on top of everything else the wife gets a pic of me in all my glory at the starting line....
Well, to make a long story short, somewhat, the Gen 1 took off and then shut down half track and I was still trying to catch him at the end of the track.... how embarassing....

Steve

Yea, well I bet if my lame moments aren't equal they're more lame. I sometimes put my truck in Neutral or Park while waiting for my run. So the last time at the track I'm sittin' there waiting for my time to move up and out of habit give the throttle a shot and the truck leaps forward and I almost rear-end the car in front of me--duh- not in Neutral, dork! Neutral is N, not D. D is for Dork. Of course I acted like I was trying to control this beast and it was done on purpose, ya know, like it was just about too powerful to control.
Yep, we all have our lame moments but you're the lucky one. Someone caught it on camera. No one noticed me, I don't think.

Unhappy

Shortly after I got my L. I put a scratch in the tailgate. (I'd rather not say how because that was pretty stupid, too). Anyway, had the tail gate repainted, and as I left the body shop several employees were eyeballing the truck. I decided to give them an exhibition, so I backed out of the driveway, staged in front of the shop, and nailed it. Only thing was, it was still in reverse. Very impressive burn-out though. I make it a point to avoid that shop now. I recall reading another post where someone did the same thing at the track; had track personell jumping for their lives.

While we're all telling emberassing stories...

My first trip to the track with the new engine/trans combo in the race car, I forgot to put the cap back on the fuel cell. The entire way down the track the car was spilling fuel out the back (which is very dangerous w/ 2 batteries back there), and just before the '1000 foot mark I ran out of fuel. The engine sputtered and died...I had no idea about the fuel problem, I thought I just lost a new $22,000 engine :o

Boy was that emberassing...it took them forever to clean up, and the tech guys still make fun of me for that. Since then, someone in the staging lane always says "make sure the cap is on the fuel cell." That was funny the first million times I heard it....

Lightning Boy, been there, done that. Second gear makes for a slow launch. I still ran 14.60 something. I haven't done it since.

An old time friend of mine and a long time racer once gave me some advice. "It's the mistakes you make down track that are serious ones". He told me to stay focused and never let up.

Just keep that in mind
