Unhappy No pension for this retirement!!!

After much thought and consideration, I have decided to give up DRAG RACING .

The old pockets can't handle the thought of breaking something on my precious BABY!!!!

For all of you that know me and have raced with me, have no fear....I will still attend all the events and will help out all my Lightning brothers with whatever they need as far as a little crew chief is concerned!!! Anyone who knows me real well will say that I love helping more than racing!!!

Oh....and Jim, don't worry, I will still be your #1 customer and still visit you and the crew regularly. I have just decided for the best interest of my bank account and consious to give up the 1/4 run.

I hope everybody is happy with my decision!!!

Oh.....and Bill(hdmlnium), look out for the "BETTER" looking truck!!!!

Cool

Hey 2_fast.. I know the feeling all too well..After putting thousand's of dollors in My 99 Dak ( SC'er,headers, roller rockers, ported TB, M1 intake manifold, head work,4.10 gears, shift kit...ETC.) I decided to get tha "L" wicch had most of the stuff on it already,,stock. Well now I don't want to hurt it so bye-bye 1/4 mile. The "L"'s just too nice to beat up.

Lightnings are not "precious babies". They are fire breathing beasts. These trucks were meant to be raced. Racing a Lightning is not abuse. It is exercise.

I race an 1/8th mile - 8.x seconds up to 80 mph and shut it down. That's no worse than launching from a country road stop sign.

But I totally understand your point, guys. Enjoy your Lightning any way you want to. You're making the payments.

Kyle,
I back you on your decision 100 percent, If that is what is best for you than that is fine by me. I still hope to see you at some of the events and I hope you get your Lightning looking as good as you want it to. You should aim higher than me though, My lightning looks good and all but if you are going to go after the look than you should go after Rich/ TampaSVT. After all, in my own opinion he has the sweetest L out there, there are a few more that are very nice, but I think that Rich has it going on with his.

That's why I autocross my truck. If you live in NJ, autocrossing is just like driving on the Garden State Parkway or Turnpike when rush-hour is just starting to approach.

Yeah, I know, I get a lot of flack at work about racing my truck too!!!

I didn't decide this for them, I did it for the future of my truck and I don't have the financial backing for racing!! Maybe I should get a sponsor or something!!!

I had a blast doing it for the past couple months and will do it again in the future, but for now, I will have as much fun helping my friends out than racing myself.

Kyle, Hope all is well. Don't worry about drag racing, it's a lot safer and easier on the trucks at the track. It's the type of daily driving you put them through thats hard on the truck. If your like me, Mario Andretti, you should be afraid. The only mods I have done for performance are a chip, filter, and plugs. Although I'm not in the twelve sec club I am faster than most and I'm happy. Spend your money on a new HU and speakers and enjoy the ride.

Lastly, if you and Brian ever come down again I found a road thats like a roller coaster. It's like a road race track: well paved, lots of smooth turns, and dips that will turn your stomach. Best of all no traffic.

Kyle,

I applaud your decision....

We all share a common thing...the Lightning. Wether we choose to drive it every day, race it, auto-x it or show it...we still have the same love of a vehicle. Thats what makes the community.

I certainly understand your concerns and I am sure that everyone else will too.

I say sell the MT's and invest in some bug remover LOL

You should check out the stereo stuff, custom(non-L replica) wheels and other goodies to further personalize you L.

As Shorty says, regardless of parts, its still one of the fastest on the street and you can't take that away from it.

See you on the 10th.....
