F1 Tyres 99/00 v 01

Have read that the F1 tyres on the 2001 Lightnings have a softer compound and grip better.

Can anybody confirm this or has anybody noticed a worthwhile differance when they replace there old style F1 tyres for the newer type?

Also, Anybody know when the Nitto 315/40/18 are comming out?

All these mods and cold air make it way to easy so screw up the start

Hilander,

Yes the newer compound is better. We are on our 2nd set of the new compound tire. They are great for te first ~5,000 miles if you dont burn em up. When you order new F1's you will get the new compound.

The F1s are rated for a load of 1819 lbs. What is the rating on the Nittos? I would love to get Nittos when I wear mine out, but I am concerned about the load capacity.

They are 555R drag radials 305/45/18 on stock rims.

The 305/45-18's are 28.81" tall with a section width of 12.0" compared to the 295/45-18 which are 28.45" tall and have a section width of 11.6".

295/45-18

295mm/25.4 mm per inch = 11.61" section width

11.61" * .45 aspect ratio(height to width) = 5.22" sidewall height

diameter = (5.22" * 2) + 18" rim = 28.4" overall height

Hope this helps.

Doesnt look like it affected mine at all used my g.p.s. to test my speed and it doesnt look off to me from what I can tell. Just help me off the line the tires lock up real good now very little tire spin!

Doesnt look that much different is size than the F1's i think its less than a 1/4 inch in height difference!
