For those guys that think there has to be a better fuel filter.......

I think I just came across one. (I'm not sellin' 'em-no affiliation.)

The company is Canton/Mecca. Used one of their remote oil filters on my Saab 9000T back in the late 80s. They offer a direct bolt-in upgrade that will outflow and have double the filtration of the stock filter.

#25-910 is the in-line filter for Ford EFI. It has the factory style quick-disconnect('quick, my a$$) fittings(same as stock--no fuel line mods needed)--4" long 'can' with a 2 5/8" long REPLACEABLE one micron fuel filter element.

I ordered one today and will replace my stock one as I now have 14,000 miles on my L.

web site is www.cmfilter.com, phone no. is 203-481-9460, and located in N. BranFORD, CT.

Price from CM; $75.00, $11.25 for the replaceable elements. You may be able to get them cheaper from one of their customers, but I went ahead and ordered mine today.

Try www.cmfilter.com instead. The comma in the previous post threw it off.

(Or not. That one didn't work either...)

Why should you change the fuel filter? Is this regular maintenance for our L's?

Should change them every 10k-15k miles. Seem to get restricted pretty fast.

Canton Racing Products........

I got their fuel filter yesterday......man, is it bigger--about 1" longer(overall), while slightly larger in dia. I plan to install it this weekend--15,000 miles went by quickly--and will post any 'install' problems.

Btw, they included their catalog with the filter. Very interesting--they have a 'spin-on' oil filter for our eng. too. They are 4 1/4" long by 3 1/4" in dia. and they accept their 2 5/8" high 8 MICRON element(replaceable) which flows 15 G.P.H. of hot eng. oil with no loss of pressure. The p/n is 25-290 for 1997 and up 5.4L truck engs. The housing is machined aluminum, black powder coated with a red anodized aluminum bottom cover(removeable to allow for element changing). The 'element' is a synthetic 'depth filtration element' instead being a 'surface' paper filter as most standard filters are.

Post is becoming too long--go to cmfilters.com if you're interested.
