Yet Another Newby

I've been lurking for a while now but figured since my baby is now a week old and just had her first bath, I can join the board. Great info from you guys, you helped me decide to trade in my '97 Lariat and get new Lightning (the 0% helped too). Her first photo is attached, just added a Bedrug so far .........

Thanks a lot guys. Frank, I have to tell you, the picture of your truck had a lot to do with me getting white instead of red. That's got to be one of the best Lightning pictures around. I do have my first question if someone can help me out. Apparently the 2001 L's
have a 90mm air intake instead of an 80mm like the 99 and 00's. K&N, nor anyone else, has a complete replacement intake system
that will fit the 01's yet. Is it worth buying the stock replacement K&N filter or should I wait until they get a complete system put together? Your opinions are appreaciated.

Not sure what you mean by "nor anyone else has a complete replacement intake system"---all of the tuners can provide you with just such a system--imho, a better system than k&n(filter only or system-when available). Maybe I misunderstood your last post? Btw, there are at least two(PSP & BaBolt) new and different intake systems in the works.

Enough of that! Welcome to the world and family of Lightning owners and enthusiasts--this is a 'good' place to be--fun and an occasional enlightenment(LOL).

Sorry, I should have clarified my question. I was thinking of replacing the stock air filter with the K&N, using the factory airbox instead of waiting until they had a cold air type system to replace the airbox. It looks like there are alternatives to K&N that I wasn't aware of that I need to look at. This board is going to be a great help for a rookie asking L questions. The PSP looks good, I'll check out he BaBolt too. Anyone have a preference?

Thanks for the welcome note and the advice on the alternatives.

Welcome To The Club

I've had mine just over a month now. Made the first payment yesterday- only 35 more to go!

I'm tackling my first mod tonight- the Bullitt fuel filler door. Not a biggie, but something that looks that good has to be good for 2/10's!

Thanks, Murphy's just east of Plano, just west of Wylie, one of the many Dallas suburbs!

Just remember, the PSP(new, improved(?) kit) and the BaBolt are not being offered(to my knowledge) yet.

Currently, JDM, PSP(current kit), and Johnny Lightning offer tried and proven air intake kits. I think you'd be well served by any of these. Do a search for more info(sorry, I don't have their URLs).
