Looking for good lowering shocks!!!???
Looking for good lowering shocks!!!???
Whats up guys? I got a quick question for everyone w/ at least a 3" drop... What shocks do u have and how do they handle???? My buddy who owns a perf. store told me that they make a Koni shock for the lightning, now I know they r pretty good shocks for the mustangs and ricers but how r they for the trucks???? Finally doing the suspension next month when the truck goes into hibernation for the winter
I know I am going to purchase Stans panhard bar and sliders but dont know where to go from there
ANY INFO WILL BE A GREAT HELP, CAUSE I CANT STAND DOING THINGS TWICE
Thanks

Very important to match up your spring rates and shocks. Talk to Stan he can be a huge help in that department. Are you keeping the stock rear springs and adding the sliders? What you do up front will have an affect on the rear, and what you do to the rear will affect the front. I am assuming you are looking to improve the handling and not just the look
Silver Bolt,
Do u by any chance have Stans e-mail address, I lost it. What Im looking for is a good set up for a 2"-3" drop in the front and around a 3.5"-4.5" drop in the rear. Im guessing I would have to replace the stock rear leafs to get that kind of drop.
Thanks

Should be able to reach Stan at Ruslow@yahoo.com. Are you just wanting to lower your truck? Are you wanting to improve the handling? Cheap and easy way to do it is with something like the BellTech 3/4 kit. Nice looking drop, some improvement in handling but could have some bottoming issues in the rear suspension. What Stan can help with is creating a better balance and huge improvement in the handling. The by-product is a slightly lower stance but no bottoming issues. Two very destictly different approaches.

I have used the Bell Tech kit on my Ram and if you are looking for handling go to Hotchkis. On the 3/4 drop i did on my Ram, i had to use shorter shocks as the stock ones did not have adequate clearance for travel. The belltech supplied Nitro-drop shocks are abosolutely terrible....IMO it handles like an elephant on ice. If you do choose a shock to use with your lowering kit be sure to choose one that will accomodate the operating travel range of your suspension components. Using a shock in which the travel is limited will affect the internal valving range.
