So lucky me managed to pick up a nail in my left rear tire on the way TO New England Dragway this past Friday (still ran a 12.9...hey, it was over 2 hours away!), then managed to lose the same nail on the way home from school the next night (after no one would fix it because it was too close to the sidewall). And of course it couldn't have happened during a sunny 60 degree day. Nope, more like at 4:30am...on one of the darkest roads around (495)...on the coldest night of the year thus far (30 degrees)- when I didn't even have a jacket with me. Yeah, so that sucked (to put it nicely).
Anyways, in my search today for tires, I tripped across tirerack.com having a "special" on F1's (thanks for the tip Don C). Right now they're $194 a piece. The total for two of them (which will be my 4th set of 2 tires in 13 months) with shipping and a tire pressure gauge I ordered was $420 (not quite 4:20, but smoke appropriately if you feel the need i guess...again, Don C...hahaha-jk). Just figured I'd pass it along.
Later...

PS- Oh yeah, I'm going to try to convince/coerce someone to patch my busted tire that has ~10,000 miles left on it JUST so I can sit there and burn them off, do donuts etc (just to give Probie lessons!). Man, I've been waiting to do this for a long, long time. Of course I'll post the pics/video if it happens. Later...

MXRacer -
How are you going through tires so fast? I burn mine alot, like a high school kid with the old man's truck, but I've got 12K on them and still alot of life in them.

The F1's suck for tread life, unfortunately. I got 10k out of the first set(replaced by ford) and 14k out of the second set.
So, HELLO TOYOs! (Treaddepot.com has them for $199. A steal!)

Edit to previous post, regarding "4th set of tires in 13 months":
This will actually only be my 3rd set of tires in 13 months...my bad, I got confused. I bought 4 tires from "The Tireman" back in ~February for $175 a piece, and I ain't got none left!
Madhouse: I guess I forgot my disclaimer...in those 13 months, I've put over 42,000 miles on my L, compared to your 12,000....so we're probably not that far off.
BUT, the other difference is that:
You: "burn them off like a high school kid with the old man's truck";
I: "burn them off worse than a high school kid with the old mans truck"...
Lets just say that to me, every red light is a 0-60 or 1/4 mile opportunity, and every turn is just another chance to go sideways. That, and I can't think of the last time I let my L shift into 2nd at any lower than 4,000rpm, just so I could bark 2nd gear and leave 6 feet of rubber in the process. 6 feet of rubber * 5,000 shifts into second gear = a lotta tire!
