2nd time to track - what happened?

The main objective of last night was to prove to myself that my "street program (I)" is not faster than my "race program (II)". They feel very similar as far as power, but I can scratch second in the street program, and not in the race program, so I was going to prove it (as the street one should be about 3 or 4 tenths slower than the race), but.............

1st run - chip on "race" program

RT------.698
60'-----1.967
330----5.517
1/8-----8.437
MPH----83.99
1000---10.989
1/4-----13.154
MPH----104.03

2nd run - against a 2000 L (whose owner claimed that all 99/00 Lightnings have 208 gears and he had a chip, filter, and a "18 hp Bassani cat-back" and ran a 13.9 )

"street" program

RT------.617
60'-----1.955
330----5.702
1/8-----9.050
MPH----72.97
1000---11.998
1/4-----14.552
MPH----87.89

I launched good, R/T and 60' time even a little better than the 1st run, but about halfway down the track I start slowing down, and it almost feels like my tires are spinning....the 00 L blows right by me to make his 13.9 - what happened? Did I hit a slick spot in the track halfway down and start spinning? (they were cleaning up the track for 1.5 hours before my run) Or did I lose boost or what? I was running for the first time on my ET STreets. Its not because of the street program. There is no way my truck is THAT slow even stock.

I guess I'll have to prove the chip mystery next time.

Sounds like you lost boost, did you have the boost solenoid unplugged? Did the truck get squirrly or just stop pulling? It's possible that tires broke loose at the far end of the track. A friend of mine has me on video with the rear tires breaking loose just before I crossed the line in the 1/8 at about 75mph. It got pretty scarry when I found myself looking at the guy next to me.

I didnt unplug it, and it didnt get squirlly, it just kept going straight but slowed down, and I sort of felt that 'wheel spinning' sensation.

Does everyone unplug their boost solenoid when racing?

you should have switched lanes and made one more run, that may have rulled out a bad spot on the track.

I have found I only get 1-2 tenths better E/T on my race side.

something weird must have been going on to drop that much.

Unplug it, or get Jims Bipass kit, thats what I did. No chance of loosing boost, and no codes will ever be created in your procesor.

I was going to pull around and make another run, but it was already too late and the lanes were closed. It was ridiculously packed. I've never been on a friday, and will never go again. I think sunday will be better. Something definetly weird was going on, I hope it was just a slick patch.

Definitely sounds like a boost dump issue. One of my runs a few weeks ago netted me a 15+ second timeslip because I hit the rev limiter during my burnout. 2 lbs of boost the whole time down the track - how embarrasing

I havent made that same mistake twice.
