Questions about chip control parameters

I just ordered a JDM flip-chip with the "cool weather" and "warm weather" programs. I'm just wondering what to expect. More specifically, what can I have changed within the program if I don't like it? Currently my only gripe about my '01 is the 1-2 shift farting. Aside from keeping all cylinders active during the shift, what do these programs do? How are they different from each other? Are these programs conservative or bleeding edge? I'm just trying to get better educated. I guess the engineer side of my work life is trying to creep into my fun time.

Thanks in advance,
Edward

The "warm weather" program automatically rolls down the windows when you start up the L. The "cool weather" program automatically rolls the windows up AND it turns on the defroster.

Hope this helps.

Is it just me, BUT , shouldn't you have asked these same questions BEFORE you ordered your chip?

The "chips" control the timing, fuel, transmission, plus a whole lot more. Your two programs probably just a slight difference in timing and fuel delivery depending upon weather conditions. You should talk to Jim (JDM) about the specifics of each program, fuel requirements etc. More than likely they are on the conservative side "street" programs unless you requested something specific. Pretty standard for the tuners to fix the shifting so the power is full on. Make sure you carefully and completely clean the contacts before you install the chip. You won't believe the difference your chip will make.

Make sure you ask him to add in the parameter to lock and unlock your tailgate when you hit your keyfob. Neat lil feature of the chip.

Ask him to end you the Fall & Spring versions too! Usually they will throw these in if you ask.

Silver-Bolt pretty much covered everything, except the fuel quality. I don't know if Texas is like the northwest, but the fuel really changes in the winter time. The gas gets worse, but the cool weather will make up for it.
From my experience, the JDM chip won't ping or detonate and his street chips make nearly as much power as his race chips. He just spent a lot of time in Texas, tuning customer trucks, so his chips should run good down there.

All I can tell you is, once you put Jims chip in your truck you will have a hard time wiping that big grin off your face.

Don't worry about anything, I have had his chip in my truck for 21,000 miles I have raced it a bunch of times and my truck is running awesome.

Silver-Bolt is right on the money, and make sure you take his advice and make sure you clean the contacts real good.

Mine does that! JL didn't even have to reprogram it.

The annoying thing about the power locking tailgate is unplugging the special plug when you remove the tailgate. I don't think I would order that option next time.

Edward:

Check my sig--the dyno numbers were made with JDM's warm weather chip installed--in July--in South Georgia--no ice used. I plan to re-dyno it this winter with JL's chip installed--the 12s were made with JL's chip. Btw, it's a daily driver--the only 'track' change I make is to put on the M/t tires and wheels.

Spikey, you bad boy! May have to take away your leather leash and make you use a Kmart linked leash--no, don't tell me, they both know hand signals?(nobody will know what I'm talkiing about but George.) Btw, you had me holdin' my nose and RAOTFLMAO!
