blower pulley cage
blower pulley cage
Does the blower pulley cage provide any support for the blower pulley? If so, how is the blower pulley connected to the crank pulley, and how does the cage support it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes, it does provide support--there is controversy as to whether it's needed. I'm running a pulley without the cage--so far, so good.
The OEM pulley is connected with one large bolt(into the crank) while my JL pulley is connected with three allen bolts(and lock washers). Btw, my OEM bolt was a b**** to break loose!
Not sure how far away you are or whether you're interested in drag racin', but each Fri nite(6pm-11pm) up to Thanksgiving, there is test-n-tune(1/4 mile strip) at Silver Dollor Raceway one mile west of Reynolds, GA--just off of Hwy 96. $20 to run as much as you want to or $5 just to watch. This Fri, temps should be in the 40s to 50s.....wahoooo! Ran a 12.882et last Fri in 58 degree weather.
Come on down and have fun.(Call me at work at 1-800-926-2136 if you have questions.)

The stock pulley is very heavy and the cage helps support it. The aftermarket pulley is very light, therefore not needing the cage to support. Since the "cageless" pulley's have been out for a while now, with lots of hard miles I think the "hypothesis" is proven.
Does anyone sell a blower pulley (for more boost) that retains the cage?
I'd still like a description of how the blower pulley connects to the crank pulley. Is it through a shaft, that rides on a bearing held by the cage?
