Seatbelts pass test
Me and the wife had to go to Bishop Ca. last week. I refuse to take my truck to the closest dealer to me, as Cooter and Goober look like they sleep in the 5 gallon bucket of grease. I had my driving lights replaced there (after I removed the old ones prior to going there). They couldn't even get them installed correctly, and I had to finally seat them in myself. This job is rated at 1 wrench, and it takes NO tools to complete.
There is a great Ford/Mazda dealer in Bishop,Ca. (Eastern Sierra Motors. plug, plug) I have not done any buying business with them as of yet. We stopped to look and see their latest inventory.
I had received my second notice from Ford on the seatbelt recall. I went back to service and talked with the service manager. I told him where I was from (140+ miles away), and I explained about the Ford dealer near me, and my past experiences with them. He went on to tell me that he personally checks the seatbelts, and does not grease anyones seats for them. LOL He grabbed his official tool, and we went out to my truck. He checked them out and said they all passed the test. He then proceeded to tell me that if I had bad seatbelts, I'd be the first to know about them. The story behind the recall goes : An older woman was driving her Ford truck, was involved in an accident. She was killed in the accident. The family now wants millions of dollars from Ford as her seatbelt failed. Come to find out, the woman was NEVER wearing her seatbelt.
We had been to this dealer a couple of months ago. The wife and I test drove a new Tribute. Sammy Adams Jr. (salesman), says "Go and drive it. Go get some lunch". They are a great bunch of people there. No high pressure sales tactics.
While we were there last week, we also test drove another Tribute (different color). We had the same treatment, with no pressure whatsoever.
Our next new vehicle will be either the Tribute or Escape, loaded V-6 AWD of course. It will be bought from Eastern Sierra Motors. We want to put a KenneBell blower on it and go lookin for F-Bods. LOL
Sorry for the long post, but I figured that the seatbelt recall "True Story" needed to be aired.

LMAO at the 1 wrench job remark. Hope you get the Ford instead of the Mazda. Same vehicles but the sales stat goes to Ford.
I can tell that one of my seatbelt latches is bad, I just wiggle the belt a little and the button pops up. Hate having to risk the greased seats.
