Why not tee into the drain on the bottom of the radiator. Just drain the radiator into a bucket, unscrew the drain plug and head to the local hardware store

I would think it would be better right near the motor rather then the radiator (more accurate).

Can anyone confirm this is the correct one, my searches show this is a very good place to tap for the sensor????

Anyone???

Exclamation DONT CUT THAT HOSE!!

Roberto,

when hooking up my h2o gauge (the first time) I used that spot. Didn't work worth a DAMN.

With that said, here's where I installed mine. Granted, the gauge doesn't move until the thermostat opens but that isn't necessarily bad either.

Go buy a spare thermostat housing and tap it as illustrated in the image below. Plenty of room for the 'stat but it's kinda tricky to install due to bolt clearances.

Like Fast Gator said i tapped right into the radiator drain. The sending unit from my autometer guages fit perfectly in the drain plug hole its right behind the block by the oil filter.

Not that it matters but I just hooked up my autotap program a week ago and this thing rocks. It displays the temp of the coolant in the motor, the heads temp, and just about everything else that you would want to know. Also had the BP readings and temp of the air going in the intake tube. Really a nice little feature to have when your at the track.

Just wanted to throw that in there. I'm going to mount my mini computer in the truck and take some pics for you guys. My new computer is the size of a VHS tape, Really cool. Thats my christmas present from my brother, LITTLE early huh!
