I run 93 octane and have no problems with the marbles in the can, truck groans a little when backing or slow turning but hey it's a ford not a BMW.

FRITZ - passenger side window would go down really slow or would get stuck about 1/2 way down. Ford said they re-set the track and greased it, works great now.

I think alot of people are having that passenger side window problem. I had an A/C line blow out, and when the freon leaked out, it fouled a plug near the line. They recharged the A/C, replaced the line, and changed my plug, good as new . The smile this thing will put on your face after you get it quickly overcomes the little problems some of us may have encountered. I don't see too many 2001 L's for sale, someone must be happy.

Talking 1.21 gigawatts !

The only problem I experience on a regular basis is finding other vehicles to "play" with....

Other than the "flux capacitor" engaging whenever I hit 88 mph, I love the "L"...

Thumbs up 24,000 miles and running strong

I just turned 24,000 miles today. I have a bunch of mods, I run it at the track all the time, and the truck has had allmost no problems. The only problem I have had was a clogged vent in the rear end that caused the pinion seal to leak. Becides that it has been perfect, no slap, clunk or any problems at all.

Sure Don C. No vibration issues to speak of? These bloody trucks are vibration-aholics!

1. front end clunk
2. cracked fog lights (from the heat of the bulb)
3. trans acts funny from time to time (hesitates before downshifting)
4. passenger side window goes up/down in slow motion
5. leaky power steering pump (all over my new garage floor)
6. vibrates like a nuclear reactor (didn't do it until it got cold)

4000 miles

other that that it's OK and I still love it. I just know it wont last much more than 100k - 120k miles

Opps I forgott about that. Between the counter weights and the MagnaFlow I had installed when it was new, I forgott about that till you reminded me.

I have had many minor problems with my as well.I have 4 other trucks in my driveway and I spend more time on the L than all the others combined.Mine is strictly for hobby,it's not my daily driver.I love this truck and would definitely buy it again.....but if stupidity grew on trees,I'd be a frickin orchard.

Had no A/C right off the showroom floor. Ford repaired under warranty. Passenger window goes down slowly, to be repaired at next oil change at dealer. Vibrations at about 80 mph with no boost but I rarely drive this fast and plan to have them check out the exhaust brackets at the oil change. So far, no clunk (but have Herb's washers ready for when it occurs). Other than that, it's been just great! I really don't think you can go wrong with an 01. Go for it!

7500 Miles and.......

No problems whatsoever. I have no performance mods. I run only 93 octane and I have never put anything less in. No pinging, no vibration just this loud whine that seems to occur under acceleration load, can't quite figure it out. I'll just keep "TESTING" it under acceleration to see what that whine could be.
