Need Input on these SVT L Scenarios
I'm trying to either get into an '01 L or order an '02 L (preferred). Want both with x plan. However here are the pros/cons for getting either one as I see it. If I'm not thinking about something please everyone chime in.
'01 Pros:
xplan; special financing(if I get everything done by 10.31.01); i'm in an L before thanksgiving.
'01 Cons:
already been out for over a year; don't like any color although black is OK, would prefer true blue; probably don't have time to sell my '01 SuperCrew Lariat on my own before 10.31.01 and trade in value is disappointing.
'02 Pros:
xplan;lastest and greatest factor; have more time to get better deal on my truck; get true blue color.
'02 Cons:
don't know what special financing, if any, will be; have to wait probably until sometime in Spring '02 to take possession.
Q1) Given all that what would you guys do? Is it worth the risk of not knowing what the financing going to be to get into an '02 even though I might get better deal by selling my '01 SuperCrew in the interim OR should I not worry about all that and jump on the '01 deal?
Q2) What else can I negotiate with dealer in addition to the xplan. I don't want to come across as greedy but if there is more ways to reduce the bottom line, please let me know.
Q3) Is destination charge included in the xplan price?

Yeah, it is a hard decision, and it is a decision I am finding myself in right now, I really like the True Blue, and know the wait will be long and hard,
I think I am going to go with a 2001, and get the silver, because it would be just to long waiting, and so hard...
Just my 2 cents

Other than the color issue, the 02's are little changed from the 01. Don't forget the Lightnings don't come out until mid-model year so you wont get one until spring at the earliest. With the way the auto industry looks right now and the 0% financing the 01 is the only way to go. I'm sure you can get the dealer to do something else for you. Mine threw in an alarm for me when I bought mine back in April. Good luck.

Find a dealer who'll do an '02 on X-Plan AND sign a promisory note that they will honor 0% or whatever the current deal is for the months you want. They did it for a friend here in Mobile at www.treadwellford.com
Sometimes you can quality for a student discount or other small things, but that is EXTREMELY rare. $28,900 is NOT a bad price.
Yes, it's included! The dealer is also not suppose to add in any "add on" fees such as Doc and dealer prep, etc. Make sure you they don't!

Go back in time, don't buy the 01 S'Crew, buy the 01 L instead & you'll save a bundle. If that's undoable, I would probably drive the S'Crew another year & wait for the revamped L in 03. However if you want an L sooner & really like the Blue, order it, sell the S'Crew yourself & enjoy. good Luck.
