Bassani's a comin'
Darn all you guys...
It's beacause of all of you that I had to break down and order the Bassani cat-back from JL today. Couldn't allow myself to go any longer without doing something to the "motor" of my '01 L. Made a deal with the wife that I would wait until I had 1500 miles on it before I unleashed the engine mods (the wife figured this deal bought her a good six months since I drive about 50-75 miles a week). Managed to convince her that this wasn't really an "engine mod" and got the green light from my better half. So...the Bassani's on its way and I only have another 400 miles until the chip, filter, pulley, TB, electric fan and Cobra R water pump get here. For anyone here who has done it in their driveway/garage, how long has the install taken, what if any special tools are needed (outside of the required 12 ozzes) and did anyone run into any "gotchas" during the install? I'm even going to attempt to get a before and after dyno run so the cat-back argument can finally be put to bed.
Just treated the truck to its first oil change at 1100 miles and was nice enough to go full boat and give it the good stuff - Mobil1 synthetic.
Thanks in advance,
Dan
P.S. What is the syntax to insert a link to picture within the text body of a message (not at the end as the "Attach file:" feature does)?

You wont regret it still one of the best mods i have done. The sound is awesome makes the truck sound mean like it should have from the factory. You can hear me coming from a block away now and the tips are 4 inches and stainless. They make the stock tips look like toothpicks.

From another 'Dan' to Dan.........
Man, I'm glad you're doing this. I think this will be my next major mod? It will be interesting to see a 'before & after' performance number. Supposedly, you won't see any increase after the install, but please, please do the dyno. I've made the mods that 'may' affect the hp/torqe numbers positvely(more 'air' forced in).
Btw, on another board, a Bassani x-pipe was coupled with two Magnaflow mufflers---but the guy put the x-pipe between the mufflers and the tail pipes??? I thought the 'x' went brfore the mufflers?

Lightninrod,
Phase I of the stock exhaust vs. Bassani cat-back will happen tomorrow. I am scheduled to be at the dyno shop at 9:00 A.M. tomorrow morning to do three pulls on my bone-stock '01 L (it does have the 170-degree thermostat in it and I don't think the Speed Grille is good for any more power). My L will have just under 1200 miles on it when the dyno gig happens. I'm going to attempt to get there an hour early so I can let it cool off and get one run while it's cool.
I will post the numbers for all to see. My Bassani should be here at the end of this week or the beginning of next and I will then have the follow-up dyno numbers shortly after that.
I'll keep everyone posted and we'll end the "cat-back" controversy once and for all.

seniorchief,
The Bassani cat-back is $675.00 through Johnny Lightning and $675.18 through Sal at PSP...picks your tuner and order it up as there is no difference in price (shipping may be a different story as Sal is in Long Island and Johnny is in Pennsylvania).
