Beat a TA???
My friend has a 2001 Trans Am WS6, and another with a 2001 SS, and i want to know what to expect before i go ahead and race them. I have a stock 01 L, and theirs are also stock. Any one got any kill stories?
If they can't drive a stick, you might have a chance. Otherwise I wouldn't try it. A friend of mine was running 13.1x in a 2000 T/A (not a WS6) when it was bone stock on street tires.
i was at the track last night and saw about 6 T/A's and WS6's. they were running around 13.5xx with awfull traction at the line. personally i would go for the chip or the chip and air kit before racing these guys.

A Little Recipe From My Files...
How to properly cook a late model WS6 F-Body:
1) Race on street tires
2) Race on the street, from a standing start
3) Choose a starting point with as poor traction as possible (a greasy intersection with a big, slippery white stripe)
4) Keep the race distance as short as possible (around an eighth-mile is ideal)
5) Launch gingerly, but with serious intent
You'll kill him under these circumstances, and it's not a tough race to set up. Stoplight-to-stoplight late at night on a road that sees a lot of daytime traffic.
They can also be killed at the 'strip, especially if traction is bad. Many can't drive anyway, and a half-second or less THEORETICAL advantage is easy to make up with a good light on your part and a poor launch for the WS-6 (very likely, especially at a slippery track). The Lightning is VERY easy to drive fast. An F-Body is not.

Are they six-speeds or automatics? Makes a big difference. The automatics are very consistent if well driven. Sneak the chip in before you race. I agree with the above too. Race on the street for no more than the 1/8 mile. Should be real close no matter what.

Ever since I mounted my JL Rocket-Launcher turret in the bed of my truck, I have won every race. Cops will come up to pull me over, but for some reason, back off and leave me alone.
JL Rocket Launcher - If you can't beat 'em, DESTROY 'em.

Just got back from Moroso Race Park and went with my neighbor who just bought a 2001 Camaro SS.Its automatic and the first time out he ran a 13.42 at 103 mph. They are fast.I went a 13.33 with a so-so .846 reaction time but at 101 mph.I only have a JDM chip and the factory air-box.That 101mph should tell you that in a race I would most likely beat him, but he will catch you soon after!Thats how powerful our engines are. They can propel these heavy "bricks" down the 1/4 quickly but then aerodynamics pay their toll.Stock for stock I think they are sooo close!!A 6-speed may not launch as good in my opinion, thus probably being equal to the automatic (on street tires)
