Cracked fog lights

I just installed the replacements on my 2001 L this weekend.
I took the truck to my dealer where I had purchased it and
showed him the spider line cracks that had developed in mine.
He had the service manager take the vin number of my truck and
order me a new set.
I had to take the cracked ones back to him as he was sending them back to Ford. He did use the word recall several times as
we were initally looking at them.
It is a very simple replacement once your nes ones arrive.
My 8 year old daughter removed the right one for me.
See your dealer.

Marc

Go to a different dealer

Try to find someone who hasn't had cracked fog lights. This is a very common problem and should be covered under warranty. I was told by my dealer that it was covered.

I'm on my third set, all covered under warranty. I guess Ford won this fight, because I don't turn them on anymore. Sucks to be me.

The foglights on my '01 started cracking after only two weeks. Like most people, I view going to the dealer like going to dentist, I avoid both as long as possible. But this weekend, while washing my truck, I noticed the fog lights now were loose and wobbling in their housings. So, I'm taking the L to the dealer (Tommie Vaughn Ford) tomorrow to have them replaced, have my passenger window adjusted (its been catching halfway up and down), and have them take a look a the crackling paint on my left rear fender (about the size of a silver dollar).

Initially, I tried scheduling an appointment at the dealer next to my office, Mac Haik Ford, but after five attempts to reach their service department, I finally got through and told me I would have to wait at least two days before they would even look at my L plus, I was responsible for my car rental because they didn't have a clue about the SVT premium service car rental program... I don't think so, that's why I decided to try another dealer. I'll keep you posted on what happens.

Smile

*knocks on wood*

I may be one of the few whos fogs have never cracked yet... I do some smart things, like not run them in the rain, etc.

I used my fog lights for the first time in 13 months of ownership on my 2000 Bolt on a trip up the California HWY 1 through Big Sur. Encountered heavy fog. My left front fog light didn't crack. It literally exploded in the parking lot of a hotel in Monterey. Living in San Diego, I don't encounter fog heavy enough to warrant their use, so I never did-because I had read here that every time they were used in wet weather they crack. Well, they frigging explode, too. Blew out all the glass onto the parking lot. Dealer is replacing it when it goes in for the intercooler recall and seat repair, all under warranty. Toyota Tundra's keep looking better and better.
