Unhappy Truck shaking bad! What gives?

The truck seems to be shaking pretty violently, especially when I give her any gas. Theres a strange smell thats vaguely familiar coming from the vehicle. I can smell it in the cabin. It feels a little like when my old inline 4 had a loose spark plug. Would that cause the whole truck to shake ? Is there any way to check and see if Im loosing compression? Please help! If its dry tomorrow,(fingers crossed) I may not make it!

Question

Grimlock
At what speed is it shaking? I had a problem with a shake in my truck after i put a new set of tires on. Usually when i was going at about 60 and above with no boost i would get the shake real bad i would get it worse when it was hotter out. So i got the tires and wheels balanced and now its smooth as silk. Maybe thats your problem.

Actualy, I believe it to be more engine oriented. The service engine light came on for the first time. Thats why I think it may be a loose spark plug. I need to check to see if I hear a hollow blowing sound.
