GREAT Dealer experiance

NOT!!!

Ugh...I have not been in a decent Ford dealership in a long time. Went over the past 2 night to look at what it would take to get into an '01. The 0% sparked my interest.

Well it was the most miserable experiance to say the least. Stark Hickey Ford does NOT know how to treat customers...i am tired of these dealers that still think its 1980 and that customers are stupid and uneducated...without getting into too long of a rant with all the details...they guys were complete tools...tried to play games with me (after i specifically told them I won't put up with that) had me waiting and driving all over the place...low balled me on my '00 (18,500 for a 1 year old 00 with 15,000 miles). I laughed at them...then ended up getting in an argument with the salesman (who was about 80 and had NO knowledge of SVT, cars, or pretty much anything created in the latter half of the 20th century...

When I mentioned something about the internet (casually) he went into a rant....."internet shminternet" he said..the internet is useless and doesn't mean anything...you cant buy nothing on the internet (which obviously surprised me as I have spent thousands of dollars purchasing goods over the net)...I mean the guy was completely clueless....and I left there...and vouch to never go back....

In Contrast...I stopped by a Volvo dealer on the way back, and the experiance was FANTASTIC....literally..I was checking out the S60..and as soon as I walked in..I was pleasently greated. They tossed me the keys to a demo and told me to take my time.

Unreal...Night and day experiance.

Dealers HATE the Internet because once again, it puts power in the hands of the people. Now ANYONE can know the invoice price, rebates, and market value for a vehicle before ever setting foot in a dealership. I have seen quite a few dealerships try to downplay it and say "you cant trust anything you read on that ol' dang Internet", but burying your head in the sand doesnt work too well these days.

Thumbs down A bad experiance at a ford dealer, not way...

I Check NADA and Various other reliable dealer trade and used car pricing sources (Read NON-internet, some non public). This is what I found:

99 Lightning:
Trade: 21,500 - 23,500
Retail Avg: 25,700 (Aug-Sept)
Loan Value: 20,300

00 Lightning:
Trade: 21,500 - 24,500
Retail Avg: 27,250 (Aug-Sept)
Loan Value: 21,625

With the 0% financing, expect to get around Loan value on trade in, maybe 5-10% more for private sale.

Give Fairlane Ford here in Dearborn a try. Both T-Bone and I have bought our lightnings from Omar. He didn't d*#k around and got me $500 more for my trade in back in March. I had a much better experience there than I did at Gorno's (where I used to by my vehicles from).

You would think with today's car market, they'd be fawning all over you as soon as you walked in the door.
