I like the stock stereo alot but i would like a little more bass. Can i add an amp and a sub box to push a little more base???

I would like to spend 600 - 700 max.

Thumbs up stereo upgrades

I put a bazooka behind the seats; a nice fit for a sub. I also purchased the high Pioneer Premier amp that fit directly beneath the passenger seat.

These 2 items will come very close to your $700 budget. The increased clarity will be good, but I also changed all my speakers to Pioneer Premier series as well.....The stock speakers are paper cones..

For about $120 a pair you can get some Memphis PR93 3-way speakers. In the last couple of weeks I've had to run my stereo without my subwoofers and they sound GREAT!!!!! This is somewhat hard for me to come to grips with as I spent a bunch more for my two subs and a 1100W amp. I even run the speakers of the stock deck power. I would recommend getting the speakers first, and then if you need even more bass, go ahead and get some type of sub. This way you even get a much better speaker than stock. Hope this helps. If you need anymore help, feel free to write me an e-mail.

Dump the stock speakers! Take one out and look at it and you'll understand - they're absolute garbage. I swapped all four of mine for Pioneer TS-A6865's and I was almost content for a couple of weeks... Then came the Pioneer 9300 head unit. Next? Subs and amps...

zbornac: I have been looking at the Memphis products for a little while and like what I have seen. I looked up the PR93 3-way on the Memphis site and they say that they are 6X9 speakers. Do they fit without cutting the door panel? In my 99 I had MB Quart components DSD 216 and I had to cut the door. I would like to get away from cutting but do you think these speakers will sound as good as the MB Quarts.

I put a JL 10" (10W0), 2 JL 5x7's in the doors (XR570CX), and is powered by a JL 300x4 amp, its not as extreme as alot of peoples, but it sounds good. Just the amp and sub would run about $400

If you turn the bass down on the stock system you should get some pretty good sound from them.

Do you want to retain the box in the back?

If not then I would jet get some type of self powered system that has the sub and the amp built into each other.

Unless your sick and crazy like me and Clonetek, your not going to want to dump 5 grand into a system for your truck. Sure it sounds awesome, but What are your taste?

Check out this site, www.thezeb.com they got some good deals on the bazooka bass tubes. that would be enough for you and I think you would enjoy it allot.

oh yeah get one of the bass control modules for the subs. And if you really want to make it nicer, for another 20 bucks you can get bass blockers for the interior factory speaker's from crutchfield. They will allow you to crank the bass all the way up on the sub and no bass will come from the interior speaker. Just the mid and high range.
