Interesting pics of intercooler recall & cyl head replacement. Warning: SCAREY!

Hi all, I just wanted to try and post a few pics of a Silver 2000 that I am in the process of doing an intercooler recall on, and also replacing a cylinder head due to a #4 spark plug blowout. This technique makes working on the engine about a million times easier. enjoy, oh, and I promise it'll run again

later,
chris

P.S. also after you read through this post, check out this thread if you haven't already, it has some engine teardown pics: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...181#post399181

Mines in for a sparkplug blow out. How are the cylinders numbered? When the dealer got the truck the whole bottom of the plug was gone except the electrode. I guess it was beating up and down with the pressure against the head. I hope they won't have my truck too long.

all ford engines are numbered starting with the front on the engine on the right bank (or passenger side). Ex: passenger side (or firewall side on a front wheel drive) forwardmost cylinder is number one then two three etc, then you switch sides over to bank 2 or the driver side (or front on a front wheel drive) and start at the front of the block again. On a V-8 you would now be at cyls #5-8.

On this truck #4 blew out, this is the one on the passenger side nearest the firewall.

P.S. if part of your plug went down in the combustion chamber, you may need more than a head

later,
chris

Okay, mine was #2 then. I don't know if the plug went down into the chamber, but the little adustable thing at the bottom of the plug was gone. It looked like it was smashed off.

It looks like taking the cab off would eliminate them scratching the fenders and grill! I hope they do it like that to my truck.

superfords:

You can not use an address that has a"?" in it. Given that these are fotki.com photos, I'm assuming that you used the address from the first photo after clicking on the thumbnail. No can do. You have to then get the original photo to not have the "?". Hope this makes sense.

By the way, do you have any idea what the drivetrain vibration at 65 mph on 2001's is caused by? We contacted the head dude at SVE for chassis development and he said to live with it. He said it could moved to a different speed by changing rear end gears, but that it was not eliminateable. Not a really great answer.

If you would rather not talk about it publicly, please email me at twood@wipi.ca.

Thanks!

Try this

I just removed the ? and the numbers after it.

You can click edit to see the URL I used.

Cool Idea by the way ..... A bit scary if either the top or bottom section moves during the install though

hehe I love the pics. Thats a easy way to het to the engine. By the way cool rims.

I bet he just downloaded the pics to the album, and didn't logg off before trying to post the pics.

I have had that problem with Fotki before.
