captainoblivious,

Sal did hit the 11's, but with the use of nitrous. Just clarifying.

I have hit the 11s, but it was on spray. Honestly there is no way I could ever compete with JL and Jim when it comes to off nitrous ETs. The two factors getting them that fast is weight and boost. I weight 300lbs myself so that right there means I could never be as light. I also have not added the boost they run either, I prefer to run the parts I sell to my customers, which is why my customers trucks run within a tenth or two of my own. I know JL runs a larger lower and an upper, and now he offer that to his customers so that's cool. I have a 4 lb lower coming soon too. It's kind of funny how paranoid everyone was over the boost and overspinning thing, and now people are running huge lowers AND uppers. I was told that Jim runs the 2-3 lb upper and his lower was so big the trans lines we bent to clear it and since my 4 lb fits on without doing that, I'm assuming that his has to be good for over 4 lbs.

The reason I bring this stuff up is because people often ask me why they can't run as fast as so and so, or how so and so runs that fast. It's weight and boost. If you're not light, and you aren't running mega boost, you aren't going to hit low 12s or 11s.

As for the nitrous, many people feel that's "cheating" some how, or taking the easy way. But if you think about how nitrous adds power, it's not different than turning up your boost. The atomized nitrous gas in ingested into the cylinders, where combustion splits the nitrous increasing the amount of oxygen added to the mixture. The proper fuel is added as well, allowing the oxygen to be burned correctly and power increased. When you increase boost with pulleys, you are adding more oxygen and then via the chip you add more fuel to make the mix correct, and you get more power. Nitrous is no different that turning up your boost. They both add oxygen to the cylinder to increase power.

I'm hoping for 11's real soon too, but I think I'll need to bolt on JL's ET Drags this weekend to do it. Ready for a quick tire change Johnny?

Thumbs up JDM

All,

Yes Jim did run 11s. Jim ran a 11.90 at Houston Raceway Park last Wednesday(10/3) and a 11.98. Track officals were not real happy.

Saturday(10/6) in Ennis Jim ran a 11.96 earlier in the day and a 12 something when his engine let go Saturday evening.

He had no internal mods. Same basic mods some of us have. Upper pulley, big lower, TB & Filter, Lift Bars and of course his chip and slicks and tweaked to the max. His truck went on a diet considering mine weighs in at a portly 4964.

I'm also running the big lower pulley same as Jim along with several others that had their 'L tuned in the driveway at my home.

One thing I want to make clear..... no transmission lines had to be moved/bent for the pulley to fit.

We had 22 Lightnings that came to my home to be tuned/add parts etc.

Last Tuesday(10/2) we had 24 Lightnings that showed up for a big Texas Welcome for Jim and crew at the local Hooters.

Saturday in Ennis(10/6) at the track there were 33 Lightning that was parked in the JDM roped off area. 33.... that was a site to behold.

We had a great time!!!!!!

Oops.... forgot Jim had full length headers too.

I appologise to everyone about this guy blue2002. It's obvious from several of his first posts that this newbie is hear to pick a fight, or stir things up with anyone he chooses or has lined up. I knew I should have not replied to him, but I wanted to answer his question.

blue2002,
I will post and do what I want, when I want, and how I want. It is you sir who was cool at the track, and now is lookig to pick a fight with me. I really dont care what you think, but cant understand what your obsession is with me??
As for my truck, its going soon...yes. But I will be back with another. Maybe you just feel a little intimidated my friend...I cannot help you there. If you need technical help, then I can...otherwise move on! I plan to stay here, these people are like family, and you are a troouble maker. IMO

DL,
You meet this guy at Cecil?? whats his problem??

I know I won't be able to catch up with the big dawgs like Jim and John unless I change my strategy. That's why I am fixin' to change a few things internally, about $4000 worth in parts alone.

What is there to change internally for $4000? Why do you need to change something to run with the big dogs when they haven't? This is not a flame, just a ???

Well, actually $3000 internally, but I am spending $900 for headers.
I am changing pistons, rods, cams, and P&P my heads.
Changing pistons and rods to have extra insurance on the money I am spending on my mods.

Also, most people do not give out there key secrets. For instance John and/or Jim may tune there trucks different. They are in total control. But I am not mad at them for that.

Hey Spiro99SVT:

I'm probably going to get in trouble with him now, but, I may have met him at Cecil, but don't remember him...If I did meet you, sorry I don't remember, I met so many nice people at Cecil..

I thought we all got along fine, maybe some of us didn't talk to some select others, but we didn't cause any problems...

I don't know why he's after you, but it does seem like he has a bone to pick with you...

Hey Blue2002, Ease up a little bit...Spiro has been around a while and has been in a few tussles, but we are all trying to at least get along with each other...

DL
