Angry My Truck Is Doa =0(

Well had my truck out all day yeaterday took her to work she was fine. Last nite at about 8 oclock i take her out to get some Sunco ultra 94 and to take her out in this nice 50 degree weather. Well when i started her i noticed that she seemed like she wanted to stall but then was fine took her up the highway to get some gas then came home. About a half hour later my friend asks if i wanna go for a ride so im like sure. So i go to start her and then i get her almost stalling surging up to 1500 rpms back down to almost stalling and surging againg to 1500. So i called Sal and he said sounds like a vacum leak so i checked everything seemed ok he told me about a vacum line that is known to blow out on our trucks on the driver side i checked seemed ok. So today my friend was coming over who does most of my mods for me to put on my Truck trac bars from Jay. So hes a mechanic and he will take a look for me he thought it sounded like a vacum leak to. Well he checked eveything nothing couldnt find anything had the truck on the scanner nothing switched the Babolt Tb to the stock one to see if the TPS was bad on it nothing. So i called Sal again to see what else it could be and he said he didnt even think of this but the 2 fuel pumps that are in our tanks are connected by a Y and the clamps ford uses are ***** and know to come off. So after all that it turns out to be cheap clamps that ford used great move ford. So im not bringing back to the dealer for one reason all my mods and becaue for them just to put the same *****TY clamps on there again. So since im going through the trouble of dropping the tank im gonna upgrade the fuel pumps Sals getting them for me. So hopefully i will have her up and running by the 17th for that meet we were gonna have at e-town.

Vin,
I went throught the same thing. But for me they held on enough to give a total of 27 psi of fuel pressureat idle and WOT. And thankfully to my external mounted mechanical fuel pressure guage, I was able to tell in an instint what the problem was. For me, If I attempted anything over 2500 rpm, the truck would do exactly what yours did.
Always remeber, keep an eye on that fuel filter as well.

Well think of it as a blessing in disguise really....could have gotten stuck in the boonies someplace to. At least you will get nice new high volume pumps with reliable clamps Probably more fuel than you will ever need......

Compile the "Future use stuff" in a clean format and we'll add it to the FAQ. The FAQ will always be no more than an email away even in a worst case scenario.

Im not sure of the setup im getting im sure its the best Sals getting them for me. After talking to Sal and he came up with that as being the problem i was talking to him again and im like ok now if im going through the trouble of dropping the gas tank then and he Imed me back saying you wanna upgrade he read my mind hehe. So Sals setting me up sure they are gonna be the best out there.

That fuel pressure guage is getting to be a better and better mod would have saved my friend alot of time yesterday with figuring out what was wrong. I cant even get my truck to run now for longer then 5 seconds. And my friend was gonna hook the truck up to he fuel pressure guage to test it but cant get the truck to keep running. Spiro what is it with these black truck so powerful the are blowing the clamps off hehe. As for the Nos im not gonna do that but i like the sound of that new blower hehe. Well hopefully ill have her up and running for the 17th. Question for you Spiro the new setup what kind of clamps did you use so that they stayed now and did Sal set you up with it? Now i wish that the truck didnt work before i went to go get gas because now i got a full tank for my friend to drop that should be fun lol. But im glad it happened in my driveway and not on the highway.

Vin,
When I did the fuel pump repair, I actually replaced the entire fuel pump assemly with a completely new one, and I used double worm clamps on the rubber lines, just to be sure, since people like to call me the "panic-button" LOL
The factory crimp clamps blow off from all the pressure these twin pumps put out. IMO Ford was really stupid in using them. Why save a few pennies there.....

Talking

Thanks Spiro. Sals getting me the new more powerful twin setup. Ill put those double worm clamps on like you. It just amazes me that a multi-million dollar company would slack on something as cheap as clamps. And what makes it worse is that its on a lightning and SVT supposed to be limited edition and they still use the *****TY parts. Well guess they will never change.
